Casa Cook Samos in Greece by BLOCK722

Thursday, January 6th, 2022

Article source: BLOCK722

Nestled in the island Samos’ forest-like landscape, gazing towards the boundless beaches of the northeastern Aegean Sea, is the newest hotel to join the Casa Cook collection. This 128-room adults-only (+16) retreat, opening its doors in May 2022, offers the Casa Cook trademark laid-back luxury in one of the Mediterranean’s most historically rich surroundings.

Inspired by traditional Greek houses, or Kamares, found in Samian villages, the architecture is down-to-earth and inclusive. The historic concept of a Grecian village has been embodied in the modern space, where the hotel’s infinite swimming pools act as the town center of each small ‘neighborhood’ within the hotel offering space to immerse with those around you when the mood strikes or retreat back to your room to recharge in complete solitude.

Na Nikitina Residential Quarter in Siberia, Russia by Brusnika

Thursday, January 6th, 2022

Article source: Brusnika

A quarter featuring urban villas in a residential area

Na Nikitina is a residential quarter comprising eight urban villas and a tower block in Novosibirsk, Russia. It exemplifies how historic urban fabric can be restored and revitalised.

In the early 20th century a market square and wooden cottages were sited in the area. The city structure degraded in the Soviet times with high-rises and industrial buildings replacing private housing. It resulted in chaotic construction, district amalgamation and shrinking streets. The two-storey houses built just after WWII had fallen into ruin by the early 21 century and their residents were relocated. In 2016 Brusnika development company proceeded to design and construct a new housing estate on the site.

Reforma Alas in Asunción, Paraguay by OMCM Arquitectos

Monday, January 3rd, 2022

Article source: OMCM Arquitectos

The intervention is located in the residential neighborhood of Los Laureles de Asunción, on a recently paved street that has begun to have more and more disturbing vehicular traffic. The initial commission: a quick and routine repair that would consist of laying one or two walls, fixing the bathrooms, and general painting.

Although the original building had a solid structure, we were able to verify that the facilities were in a considerable state of deterioration due to the passage of time, with subsidence of floors as a result of leaks, fissures, and moisture stains. There were narrow and dark spaces that did not favor good lighting and natural ventilation, among other shortcomings in the functional design of the house.

Apartment in São Paulo, Brazil by Office Studio AG

Thursday, December 30th, 2021

Article source: Office Studio AG

This apartment is located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, and has 280m². It was developed for a family with three children, two girls and one boy, of similar ages. The father always dreamed of having an apartment with a special view of the city, and that dream came true with this property that has a beautiful view of Praça Pôr do Sol, very famous in the city. At the same time, it presents the skyline of the Vila Madalena district, which makes the apartment very special, both during the day with the green landscape that provides tranquility and at night with the lights of the neighboring district, which is very busy, which gives the urban air.

The owners’ wishes were always well defined, from the beginning the main request was to prioritize the view. They wanted visually integrated rooms, but at the same time delimited by their use. TV, lounge, dining and terrace with gourmet, four suites, a multipurpose office in the intimate circulation area, kitchen and laundry area.

Article source: GRAUX & BAEYENS architecten

The ‘B’ in the name of this house stands for Basile, architect and co-founder of Graux & Baeyens architects (GBA). He and his wife were charmed by a 1965 chalet-style house in Destelbergen (Ghent, Belgium). And although it was too small for their family, Basile – how could it be otherwise – immediately saw opportunities to make it their home.

Wind House in Izabelin, Poland by Mobius Architekci

Thursday, December 30th, 2021

Article source: Mobius Architekci

Polish design studio Mobius Architekci designed a unique house located in the vicinity of the Kampinos Forest near Warsaw. All it takes is one glance to see that it is difficult to find another with a similar structure of forms. No surprise, it’s a world unique villa design shaped entirely by nature.
The dense pine forest in Izabelin near Warsaw is a natural extension of the Kampinos Forest. The building area, situated in the eastern part of the national park buffer zone, is one of the most attractive areas sought after by Warsaw residents.

The sandy soils and soaring silhouettes of slender trees give the place an unusual, somewhat cinematic ambience, which enchanted the investors and inspired the Warsaw-based architect Przemek Olczyk of Przemek Olczyk Mobius Architekci.

Ordynka apartments in Moscow by AI Studo

Monday, December 27th, 2021

Article source: AI Studo

London-based AI Studio completes ORDYNKA, a high-end residential project in Central Moscow.

The project occupies the site of a famous chocolate factory in the historic heart of Moscow. It consists of seven high-end residential buildings connected by a spacious internal courtyard. The original facades of the factory were renovated to retain its historical appearance. In contrast to the original buildings, the facades facing the courtyard have an emphatically modern design, with polylines, panoramic windows, large modules of white architectural concrete, natural stone and anodized copper. These elements give the development an unequivocally modern character. In addition, ORDYNKA features a carefully restored 19th century merchant mansion, specifically a classic manor house with a portico and two outbuildings.
