Article source: PPAA Pérez Palacios Arquitectos Asociados

Apán, is a project part of a master plan called “Laboratory of Research and Practical Experimentation of Housing INFONAVIT”  includes 32 experimental prototipes of rural housing of the Research Center for Sustainable Development.

The objective of the project was to build a house in a rural context that met the characteristics of a decent home and satisfied the needs of users. In the same way, the project departs from the analysis of the site at the town of Zaragoza, Coahuila with a specific purpose of achieving a complete adaptability of the housing prototype to the site. Its location and proximity to the city of Piedras Negras generates a particular social context due to its connection with the United States. The inhabitants of this locality present a strong aspiration to the American way of life that was reflected in the buildings of the localities. On the other hand, Zaragoza has an extreme climate, but with a presence of humidity due to the San Antonio River, which is a slope of the Rio Grande. Due to this, the acequias can be appreciated in the different localities of the municipality.

House U in Laval, France by Atelier 56S

Thursday, October 28th, 2021

Article source: Atelier 56S

The site is located in an urban plot in Laval, France. The location of the house in the middle of the plot frees up the views to the north and south and preserves the remarkable trees all around.

The house is built on a rectangular base inside which is extruded a rectangular space, giving to the house a sort of large exterior room open to the sky, protected from winds and vis-à-vis. The living room widely opens to the south and north, while the more intimate programs (bedrooms, bathroom, garage, laundry room) develop on the eastern and western limits. The swimming pool, the central terrace, the living room, the covered terraces to the south form a large continuous common space accessible from each part of the house. This plan seeks to create a multiple and hybrid place where the boundaries between interior and exterior are blurred.

PH6 House in Jalisco, México by 21 arquitectos

Monday, October 25th, 2021

Article source: 21 arquitectos

The project is located in a private urbanization in the northern area of the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, this land has a quite unique topographic characteristic since it was located within an interior glen, which was characterized by having a downward slope almost constant throughout it, this generated as a result a difference of almost 10 m between street level 00 and the lowest point of the land, it is due to this situation that the decision is made to generate a proposal based on the fragmentation of a main block in 4 of different blocks in a descending way, in such a way that these are integrated into the natural unevenness of the site, prioritizing the generation of openings towards the North, which is in this case where there is a direct correlation with the area natural forest.

Sunset House in São Paulo, Brazil by Arkitito

Sunday, October 24th, 2021

Article source: Arkitito

With a privileged location, the Por do Sol house is next to the famous Por do Sol square, a scene that has been widely acclaimed for exercising the function of a gazebo, being one of the favorite places of paulistas to admire the sunset. Located in the Alto de Pinheiros district, Casa Por do Sol is a single-family house designed to house a couple and their two daughters.

The architect, also a resident of the house, conceived the project by proposing an inversion of the patterns of traditional housing, choosing to allocate the bedrooms on the lower floor and the living areas on the floor above, thus providing greater privacy in the intimate areas while favoring the late afternoon view in the most interactive environments.

SE5: Colour Plane in London, England by Turner Architects

Sunday, October 24th, 2021

Article source: Turner Architects

We started with the paintings on the wall. The works are by John Prentice (the owner’s grandfather), an artist and engineer. Prentice has written about colour selection turning it into a language akin to a musical score in his thesis Colour Plane. He uses this theory of colour to tell stories.

We wanted the house to imbue these theories.

Diên Khanh House in Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam by 6717studio

Sunday, October 24th, 2021

Article source: 6717studio

The urbanization is strongly developing from the city to the rural areas in Vietnam. The city tube houses have began to appear more and more densely in rural areas, disrupting the peaceful and poetic image of the village. Dien Khanh house tries to retain the traditional familiarity that is gradually fading away of rural houses, in order to create a fresh living environment, close to nature and the surrounding environment, but also satisfy modern life and contemporary social development.

From the birdview, the project is both strange and familiar with the combination of undulating tile roofs in harmony with the charming scenery of mountains and rivers in the land of Dien Khanh.
