RESIDENTIAL SAN MATEO in Lorca, Spain by ESTUDIO DE ARQUITECTURA NAOS / MCEA | ARQUITECTOS

Sunday, February 5th, 2017

Article source: ESTUDIO DE ARQUITECTURA NAOS / MCEA | ARQUITECTOS

The old Residential San Mateo was one of the most emblematic buildings of the city of Lorca for its special conception with an open central space to Juan Carlos I Avenue. In July 2011, the construction was completely demolished due to the earthquake of 11 May. In October 2011, the Residential Owners’ Association issued a call of design proposals to select the most suitable project for the reconstruction of their houses. In the terms of the competition, the projects design was made conditional on compliance with the ownership structure of the original construction, so that each owner could recover the position that had previously occupied within the building as a whole.

The tender for the end building on Stationsplein (Station square) in Delft was won by Smit’s Bouwbedrijf BV|Vink Bouw Nieuwkoop BV. Studioninedots was responsible for the architecture.

Centrally located in Nieuw Delft, this lively place creates space for meeting, knowledge exchange and innovation: the DNA of Delft. The strength of this robust complex called ‘Antoni’ lies in the physical connection of the dynamic surroundings with an urban, mixed-use function that incorporates exhibition and meeting spaces, a hotel with restaurant, workspaces, retail and apartments. Integrated underneath the building will be a new public parking facility for 2.400 bicycles.

The construction agreement between the development group and the municipal developer Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Spoorzone Delft was signed on 21 December 2016.

13 SELF-CONSTRUCTED HOMES in Palenciana, Spain by elisavalero arquitectura

Thursday, February 2nd, 2017

Article source: elisavalero arquitectura

The architecture belongs to the place, which conditions it and makes it singular. The urban layout and topography, and its ensuing definition as an observation space, as well as its insertion in the landscape, the lighting conditions and the use of materials are at the root of an idea that has materialized here in a way that continues popular Andalusian traditions—white houses in a white village.

Student Residence 179 rooms in La Verrière, France by ITAR architectures

Wednesday, February 1st, 2017

Article source: Metropolis Communication

The residence is the first apartment building on the site of the urban renewal program implemented around the station. It is perceived as a flagship project, intended to strengthen the town’s identity. Outlines, scales, volumes and materials, defined in particular during the studies carried out for this “pilot” building project, enabled the definition of urban rules that will shape future projects all around it. It is a compact building where the work on the composition of volumes made it possible to integrate it into the loose urban fabric while simultaneously restructuring the latter. The complex composition of the façades is rendered visible across the entire length of the building through the differentiation of volumes, setbacks and materials. The prow black enameled brick marks the corner of the two future streets. Splitting the two volumes creates a more diverse morphology in the existing cityscape, while also marking the linear rhythm of the façades through fractures of several stories and top floor setbacks creating a greater sense of lightness.

Krøyer Square in Copenhagen, Denmark by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and COBE

Tuesday, January 31st, 2017

Article source: COBE

Krøyers Plads is a five-story housing project with a significant location in the centre of the Copenhagen harbour area designed by Danish architects Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and COBE. The award-winning and Nordic Eco-labelled project is now finished. The project is based on a hyper-democratic and contextual approach where folded roofs and architectural heaviness create a dialogue between old and new, and a modern, empathetic interpretation of the architectural uniqueness of the old Copenhagen warehouses.
