Eva’s Phoenix in Toronto, Canada by LGA Architectural Partners

Sunday, June 11th, 2017

Article source: LGA Architectural Partners

LGA Architectural Partners (LGA) has created Eva’s Phoenix, a neighbourhood within a building. Eva’s offers safe and inclusive long-term shelter, education and skills training to marginalized youth aged 16-24 in transition from homelessness to independent living. Within two, heritage-designated warehouses leased from the City of Toronto, the architectural team created a central, interior community faced by ten clean-lined and contemporary townhouses that are awash in natural light from a ceiling of new skylights, whilst securely enclosed by the original brick walls. For up to one year, each of the 50 residents enjoys his or her own bedroom, within a “house” comprised of a communal living and kitchen space and two bathrooms with up to four others. These houses face onto an internal street – which serves as a gathering place for the Eva’s community. The layering of spaces builds comfort by giving the youth the choice to decide their own level of integration.

Feyenoord City in Rotterdam, The Netherlands by OMA

Friday, June 2nd, 2017

Article source: OMA

A historically significant stadium due to its distinctive design, with the oval stands positioned close to the pitch so audience and players are in intimate proximity, De Kuip is known for its unique and intense atmosphere. Built 80 years ago, the current stadium of Rotterdam-based football club Feyenoord no longer fulfills modern demands. To facilitate the football club’s expanding ambitions both in the national and European football leagues, multiple plans for a new and renovated stadium have been made and presented over the past decade, none of which received final approval. In 2016, Operatie NL, OMA and Feyenoord proposed a different approach: the construction of a new stadium combined with the development of the surrounding neighborhood.

Américas 1500 in Guadalajara, Mexico by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

Article source: Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos

This mixed-use project for offices and a hotel is located in the heart of the city of Guadalajara. Its formal, emphatic, and unified volumetrics express its iconic nature.

The formal concept arises from the mixed-use character it will acquire, consisting of four stacked geometric volumes. Two of these are slightly offset, and exactly aligned on the rear face. These gestures of displacement are designed to interrupt the robustness of the building and express an elegant sense of movement. The lowest volume houses the hotel, and the three volumes above it are allocated to office use by three different corporations, each occupying one volume in its entirety.

Article source: MasilWIDE

What shape of life can an architect suggest to people in a new town in which apartment complexes will be built? The location is the community living area in Gimpo Newtown. The building will be used for a neighbor hospital and other businesses, and we had an expectation that this building would be an open-space in such dense region.
