After an eight-month renovation, the Biesbosch Museum reopened to the public this summer. The museum has been completely transformed and extended with a new wing that opens to its beautiful surroundings and houses a restaurant and temporary exhibition space for contemporary art. The permanent exhibition that explains the historical development of the region has also been totally revamped. A large water model of the Biesbosch and a freshwater tidal park are also planned on the Museum Island. Building, interior, water model and freshwater tidal park were designed by Studio Marco Vermeulen, and the exhibition was designed by Studio Joyce Langezaal.

Under the design leadership of DesignGroup principal Michael Bongiorno, AIA, the museum design team has developed a bold and novel design strategy. DesignGroup asked provocative questions of CMA about both the relationship of the museum to contemporary culture and the museum’s physical relationship to the city and its citizens. From those questions, the design evolved out of our deep understanding of the particularities of the site, the imperatives of the programmatic relationships, and the redefinition of the museum’s relationship to its physical and social context. The building design, then, is a reflection of the museum’s ambition to be more visible, relevant, and connected to the community as a meeting point between art, the public and the physical city.
Today the City Council of Rotterdam has given go-ahead for the realisation of Collectiegebouw, the public depot building for Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, at the envisioned location in Rotterdam’s Museumpark. With the art depot, which will be open to the public, Rotterdam creates a world premiere. The 14.000m2 depot is planned to open its doors in 2018.
Train World, the new Belgian railway museum, opened on September 25 after ten years of work and an investment of 25 million euros. Lightemotion, creative office in Montreal, is pleased to have participated in the lighting of this new past, present and future railway showcase, which exhibits the most beautiful original pieces of the country’s history collection.
The new museum at the Weinberg in Kassel has been designed to present the Brothers Grimm‘s works. It translates the historical and topographical features of the surrounding park into a continuous open space and invites visitors to explore the exhibitions at their own pace.

As the most integrally preserved canal-town in Shanghai, Zhujiajiao attracts an increasing number of visitors every year with its authentic tradition of eastern China. The site, located at the entry of the old town, faces two 470-year-old ginkgo trees. This 1,800 sqm museum will house paintings and other art works related to the history of Zhujiajiao.

Resting on the description of Bauhaus by Walter Gropius:”” Only perfect harmony in the technical function and in the proportions of form can produce beauty”, our design for the New Bauhaus Museum is a fusion of clear geometry and technological aspects , that offer a great amount of flexibility and integration to Dessau’s City Centre. Life in a city is multiple, ambiguous and in constant change. Alternating climate seasons and weather conditions, different demand at day or night, various events and happenings throughout the year. Our aim was to create a Museum that connects and interacts with those multiple settings of daily life in Dessau in a very direct and responsive way. Due to its ability to transform itself, it can react to various needs within the City Park and offers the possibility to become a connecting hub, which shapes the community around it and links its visitors to the vision of the Bauhaus era.
The new Kruizenga Art Museum (KAM) at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, has been described as a “breath of fresh air”. The uniqueness of the 15,000 gsf Museum building is largely due to its unorthodox, saw-toothed granite exterior.
Project Background: There’s a dilapidated industrial factory, not far from Zibo train station, is located behind the bustling downtown. The industrial factory was established in 1943, and it was originally a pharmaceutical factory. However, as the developing of urbanization, the factory was forced to stop and move to new district. All the equipment had been removed, only left a empty factory. After abandoned for years, the factory is now have the turn of fortune’s wheel. The factory had it potential of long-span structure and its earthy texture. It became a desirable place to visit for many artists. Thus, the factory transforms the industrial relic to the contemporary art museum. The reconstruction area is a rectangle shape about 3800 sq./m, include 3 factory and a few unequal-sized storage. It was hardly to see some trees and plant, because there is a civil air defense facility under the concrete floor.
