Mintel Singapore recently moved office to the prestigious Singapore address at the newly renovated UIC building at 5 Shenton Way.
The brief for the new office was to create a bright an open space that is fun, stimulates creativity, and encourages collaboration and teamwork. The solution called for good space planning and a clever use of materials to make the space functional but also flexible so that working space can be transformed to host client events.
The Nanjing International Youth Cultural Centre harnessed the energy of the 2014 Youth Olympic Games to create a project with a lasting legacy that has enhanced and also regenerated its setting – acting as both an anchor and a catalyst for future investment in Nanjing’s Hexi New Town.
Comprised of two hotel towers that include the new Jumeirah Nanjing, a cultural centre with conference facilities, an urban plaza, offices and mixed-use areas, the development initially provided accommodation for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games. Now in its legacy stage, the centre has fostered investment in Hexi New Town on multiple levels; integrating additional infrastructure with new functions that include the hotels and a venue for Jiangsu Province’s annual conferences.
The project proposes a complete renovation of a poor architectural quality building from the beginning of the ‘80s, outdated in terms of energy and distribution. The refurbishment converts the building into a contemporary property suited to the developing surrounding area of Bicocca district.
Rather than implementing a restyling process, the building’s architecture was re-thought from scratch and the proportions and shapes of the massive volumes of the original building have been altered to achieve a much lighter and articulated configuration. The proportioning of the building’s volumes also allowed to create new large terraces on the rooftop further connecting ENGIE HQ with its surroundings: staring at the “artificial” skyline of downtown Milan, and at the Alps.

Located in the Anáhuac neighborhood of Mexico City in a space that years ago served as a Factory.
The space consists of two large areas: a warehouse with a structure based on columns and a saw-tooth roof; and a three-level building with an institutional characteristic.
Stibbe headquarter’s urban context is characterized by the variety of spheres and different scale levels: to the east, the location is a continuation of Amsterdam’s South Axis, whereas the north side is mainly characterized by the A10 highway. On the west side the Beethoven Street is the main route to the city centre while the east side is literally situated in the Beatrix Park.
Characteristic of the urban design by Danish Henning Larsens are the organic footprints. This visual language allows for the park to find continuation around the buildings and to be visible and palpable from the Beethoven Street. The flowing lines of the romantic, classic English garden like Beatrixpark, find continuation in the architectural appearance.
