NB1 – Residential Tower Nordbahnhof in Austria by AllesWirdGut

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

Article source: AllesWirdGut

High shalt thou live!

The residential high-rise building in the most central Viennese urban development area at Nordbahnhof is already the second building block that AllesWirdGut is setting in this district. With clever arrangement and shaping, the building with around 340 residential units is larger than it looks. The result is a varied, slim form, which creates space and connects the high-rise with the city and the adjacent park.

Darling Harbour Public Realm in Sydney, Australia by HASSELL

Tuesday, September 25th, 2018

Article source: HASSELL

The transformation of Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia, is the city’s most significant urban renewal initiative in 20 years – a once in a generation opportunity to remake a critical, central neighbourhood.

The harbour-side precinct is now home to the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) comprising three exceptional new venues, a luxury hotel – and a new mixed-use neighbourhood is on the way.

Working closely with iNSW and Lendlease, HASSELL delivered the urban design framework for the entire 20-hectare precinct and designed Darling Harbour’s public realm to better connect the city and offer new places for people to gather, relax and play.

People were firmly at the heart of our design process for remaking Darling Harbour, says Angus Bruce, HASSELL Principal and Head of Landscape Architecture.

3 pavilions in park along the river Seine, France by h2o architectes

Monday, August 13th, 2018

Article source: h2o architectes

The pavilions are located near the western entrance of the Lagravère Park in Colombes.

This longitudinal park follows the river Seine, which becomes the focal point of the route over 2 kilometers. The buildings are cleverly inserted, woven into the orthogonal grid formed by the landscape, engaging in a precise game of inflexion and dialogue with the trees. The three constructions are spread out along the promenade according to their function. The first pavilion, situated closest to the entrance and the future tramway stop welcomes visitors; further along, the shop emerges from the trees onto the riverside path and the lastly, the public toilets stand back, located deeper in the park, behind the trees.

Bellevue Botanical Garden Visitor and Education Center in Washington by OLSON KUNDIG

Monday, July 2nd, 2018

Article source: OLSON KUNDIG

Since opening in 1992, the 53-acre Bellevue Botanical Garden has become one of the most popular public gardens in the Pacific Northwest. A growing interest in native plantings and gardening, as well as expanded programs, has drawn large crowds to the botanical gardens in recent years. The design of the new visitor center answers these needs while blurring the boundaries between architecture and the gardens. Balancing civic function with residential scale and attention to detail, the design creates intimate, inspirational spaces that allow for exploration and quiet reflection.

Sunday, June 24th, 2018

Article source: Murphy Burnham & Buttrick Architects

MBB (Murphy Burnham & Buttrick Architects) has unveiled its competition-winning design for the final phase of Garitage Park, a forty one-acre complex in a growing district of Sofia, Bulgaria. The New York architecture and design firm won a 2017 international competition to serve as design architect for Garitage Park’s first tower projects, and MBB also serves as design architect for the site’s new K-8 school.

With several major multinational companies located nearby, the extensive mixed-use development by Garitage Investment Management will serve as home for a largely international mix of residents, says Taylor Aikin, AIA, an Associate with MBB. It is the second large project in the area by Garitage with residences and a school.
