Bukit Pantai in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by +OOZN

Friday, February 5th, 2016

Article source: +OOZN

OOZN’s Bukit Pantai concept imagines three tiered lightweight residential pavilions floating over a verdant Kuala Lumpur hillside. The pavilions are clad in a flowing aluminium fabric skin that responds to changing light conditions. Perforations screen the interiors from the harsh tropical sun whilst the rippling geometry creates the impression of movement.

The Energy and Information Science Pavilion by jantzen studio

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

Article source: jantzen studio

The Energy and Information Science Pavilion is a conceptual proposal for a science center that symbolically celebrates, and informs us about the collection and dissemination of energy and information from the rest of the universe to the surface of the earth. This would include the latest atmospheric science as well as that of the cosmos. The design of the center of the structure is based symbolically on various energy and information gathering and disseminating devices. In this case, rainwater is collected at the center and stored for use in and around the pavilion. Also solar energy is collected around the perimeter of the cylindrical shaped center core where it is converted to electricity and used to partially power the structure. Many other atmospheric and cosmic information gathering and dissemination sensors are built into the design of the pavilion. This real time information is used to generate a variety of ongoing graphic displays on the inside of the pavilion. Radiating out from the base of the center structure is a large network of branches that symbolically refer to the flow of energy and information into the earth. Both art and architecture, the Energy and Information Science Pavilion was designed to continue the dialogue about how art and architecture can merge together in new and exciting ways.

Also the music pavilion inaugurated in May presents itself in a brand new outfit planned by the TWO IN A BOX architects (Ottensheim, Upper Austria). Having won a competition in 2013 and following a brief, intense planning phase, the Music Pavilion was erected in the summer of 2014 on the premises of the Spa Gardens (Kurpark) in the imperial city. For years both general managers Christian Stummer and Andreas Fiereder have been dealing with aspects of modern timber construction and all the efforts have paid off resulting in this extraordinary project.
