‘Shoffice’ (shed + office) is a garden pavilion containing a small office alongside garden storage space located to the rear of a1950’s terraced house in St John’s Wood. The brief required the shoffice to be conceived of as a sculptural object that flowed into the garden space.
Inhotim Centro de Arte Contemporânea is located in Brumadinho, a village near Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais state. A personal initiative of the mining industry businessman Bernardo Paz, the museum has an unusual architectural concept. Instead of sum up all its installations into a unique building, it is composed of many pavilions spread out in a park of approximately 35 hectares.
The ‘art-track Zeewolde’ is a seven kilometer route passing through an open-air exhibition of high-quality sculptural art. This sculpture park flows out into a pond that is surrounded by green slopes. In this pond the art pavilion The Imagination is located.
Cutty Sark is one of the world’s most famous sailing vessels. After being decommissioned, the historic clipper ship has rested in a dry dock in the centre of historic maritime Greenwich where it served as public museum. Grimshaw Architects in association with Youmeheshe Architects and Designers were commissioned to design a cutting-edge visitor centre within and beneath the ship as part of a 27 million pound conservation programme that required closing the attraction for a complete restoration overhaul.
In Dallas, Texas, the Department of Parks and Recreation is working to replace several decaying, minimal 1960s shelters in the surrounding metropolitan public parks. Sandwiched between a community soccer field and playground, this simple pavilion embraces a passive, natural cooling system that becomes one with the spatial design.

The volume is distributed in two separate pavilions, adjacent but with slightly staggered locations for breaking its total volume.The shape of the buildings is typical of simple construction with a pitched roof, the archetype of the “house.” It’s composed by n.1 deposit for rowing boats n.1 training-room and n.1 multifunctional room.
Our proposal aims to fully exploit what we recognize as the most fundamental aspect underlying the project: the temporal use of the pavilion as a large outdoor event space. Due to its lack of programming, The conventional graduation pavilion suffers immediately after its purpose has been met, transforming from a place of spectacle to an abandoned vessel. If another pavilion is to be built, the scale of the project demands that it should not exist for a single usage, rather, it should become an icon that attracts public events from the surrounding community. We believe that if executed correctly, the pavilion could potentially activate a node within the downtown area.
Expo CIHAC is the biggest annual architecture and construction exhibition in Latin America. Like many other exhibitions, it creates large-scale contamination due to the excess waste it generates. Almost all the pavilions of the different brands and products related to the architecture and construction industry, end up in the trash. Deeply concerned by this, we approached the exhibition principals with the proposal of creating a low cost – zero waste sustainable pavilion that could set an example for future exhibitions.
On June 15th 2012, during the opening of Oerol Festival on the island Terschelling in the north part of the Netherlands, The Pavilion was officially opened. A Pavilion by Studio Elmo Vermijs and Arie van Ziel developed from waste materials and knowledge on the island of Terschelling. A platform for debates, discussions, lectures, presentations and musical interludes. In short, a place where “the word” can be conducted.
A structure used by a real estate company as a sales office for residential tower they are building. The project examines the line between architecture, marketing and consumption.
