Orchard House is a custom home designed to pay homage to an orchard that used to cover the area north of Seattle’s Greenlake neighborhood in the early 1900’s along with the heritage trees that remained in the home’s rear yard. The 3,320-square-foot house consists of a series of stacked volumes that create indoor/outdoor spaces with their overhangs and intersections.
HAUS 18 is a private residence in Chiangrai, designed for a family who wants to break away from living in a confined space of shophouse but still wants a harmonious merge between the workspace and living space. The design of HAUS 18 intends to create sense of coziness, play with levels of privacy and provide the ultimate comfort of tropical living.
The layout of the house is arranged in T-shape so all rooms have at least two sides which are in-touch with the outdoor greenery and fully taking-in natural light. The extrusion of blocks creates semi-outdoor veranda which acts as a transition between inside and outside, making the house more opened and relaxed. Using post tension structure, the span can be longer which results in a sleek aesthetic, a column-free space for the multi-usage of space and the ultimate air flow.
The official name we gave this project is Two-Close-Between, the name is derived from the actual constraints of the site’s surroundings along with the functionality of the building.
The drivers for this project were problem solving privacy aspects whilst preserving views. This is a dual living home built on a small 450m2 site, snug between two existing properties. The main objective was to retain the views of the ocean whilst maximizing privacy between the dual living and also from the surrounding homes, which are situated around all four sides of the site.
Tam Dao villa is a vacation villa located in a valley at the foot of the mountain in Tam Dao town. The front of the house is east-facing, welcoming the dawn and the rear looks toward the golf course valley in the west, watching the sunset.
The house is designed with 3 stories, descending towards the valley. The house has a simple architectural shape with three square boxes placed on top of each other. The biggest box is the second floor with dimensions of 22m x 22m x 3.3m. Ground floor and basement boxes are 16m x 16m x 3.3m.
Designing houses is no longer just about their functionality, but also about whether they are fashionable, hit the customer’s taste. They surprise. Architecture is one of those fields that is influenced by many trends from other areas. Much also results from the expectations of customers, but the architects are the creators. They are the ones who create unique blocks, in which we want to live, and recent years in design show that we do not like cliché and boredom. This is perfectly understood by architect Marcin Tomaszewski, who as the creative director of REFORM Architekt created a completely innovative concept of mirror houses. They perfectly fit into the environment, sometimes even merge with it into one whole.
The main target of « Tao Zhu Yin Yuan » project has been devoted to promoting carbon‐absorbing architecture, in order to decrease the temperature of the Earth. Faced with the crisis of global warming and climate change, it is must be participation of all enterprises in urging the governments to draft incentive programs that world lead to carbon reduction in the sector of industry, transportation and daily life.
This project also carries out Fan’s Li philosophy and think of the world as one community. It makes changes that bring benefits to not only ourselves but to neighbor or even the entire world.
The initial demand for the project was the construction of a set of single-family terraced houses in an allotment in the expansion area of the city of Sobral, located in the semi-arid region of Ceará. When analyzing the 25 lots of the project, it was noticed that its diversity – 11 lots of 175.00 m2, 13 lots of 210 m2 and 01 lot of 275.00 m2 – allowed for variation in the solutions. Thus, the proposal resulted in two projects: the MBV2 Houses and the MBV2 Mixed Building.
About the MBV2 Houses, the projects dealt with two distinct areas: private, referring to the solution of the residence itself, and public, since the complex acquires an urban complex scale.
Light, intimacy, balance and contemplation of the outdoor spaces are some of Casa RCR’s striking features – a haven located in a residential area of Anadia, in central Portugal.
This exercise in balance and volume distribution designed spaces to be fully experienced, some of them more private and intimate and others in affinity with the outside, all while maintaining the intimate and refuge-like character in relationship with its surroundings. In addition to creating a particular spatial dynamic, the coordination of two overlapping and perpendicular spaces also created different visual relationships between empty and full spaces, between light and dark caused by the play of shadows, between private and semi-private areas and the view of the surrounding Serra do Caramulo in the background.
10LaSalle rests on a corner site in Hong Kong’s covetable low-density neighbourhood of Ho Man Tin, which is traditionally best known for its concentration of top schools and well-established academic culture.
The slender 19-storey single block is situated in this tranquil pocket of the city amid a network of tree-lined streets which are not a common sight in highly dense Hong Kong. “At the site planning stage,” said LWK + PARTNERS Director HC Chan, “We took full advantage of such a pleasant environment with a building orientation that maximises the angle of view towards the famous Lion Rock and nearby cityscape, further facilitated by large glass windows letting in generous sunlight. The tower is also set back from the street to mitigate the blocking of views by nearby buildings, especially for lower units, while at the same time reducing any street canyon effects.”
The project comprises a complete refurbishment and partial reconstruction of a listed 19th Century baronial house situated in the centre of the town of Comillas, in the northern Spanish region of Cantabria, not far away from Santander.
