Rest Area Niemenharju in Pihtipudas, Finland by Studio Puisto

Tuesday, December 4th, 2018

Article source: Studio Puisto

Rest Area Niemenharju is located on European highway E75 which runs from Greece in the south to North Cape all the way in the North of Europe. After a long drive, it’s a perfect place to stop for the night and take in the natural environment. The Rest Area is located on a beautiful spot next to a large pond and a ridge (in Finnish harju, hence the name) bordering lake Kolima, which is a remnant from the ice age. The Rest Area takes its inspiration from the surrounding nature. It offers a break from driving, with beautiful, unobstructed views to the water.

Sazha in Sumy, Ukraine by YOD Design Lab

Friday, November 30th, 2018

Article source: YOD Design Lab

Sazha – it’s a meat restaurant in Sumy, focused on developing the culture of consumption of steaks in the city.

The restaurant’s building, like the whole architectural ensemble of the street where it is located, is an example of Soviet constructivism. Therefore, in our opinion, it was the quite logical decision to realize the interior of restaurant in a modern style, departing from the principle of the classic steakhouse. A picturesque Ukrainian name “Sazha” (soot – is a black powder mass that is deposited in the furnaces, chimneys owing to incomplete combustion of fuel) became both a starting point for creating the atmosphere of the restaurant, and bright reflection of its overall concept.

Sunrise Garden Restaurant in Bengaluru, India by M9 Design Studio

Thursday, November 29th, 2018

Article source: M9 Design Studio

Sunrise is located in the industrial suburb of Bangalore. This project was conceived using affordable materials and parts of an existing building to keep project costs down. We wanted to create a cosy environment for this family-owned business. To achieve this, we chose to use simple, muted materials such as wood and concrete, and added plenty of vegetation.

The restaurant comprises of an open-plan dining area with a garden extension featuring raw materials and an assortment of plants. It accommodates indoor and outdoor dining for lunch and dinner. Tables and chairs are arranged around a small court filled with plants, which is positioned next to a staircase. The stairs ascend to upper floor providing additional seating that overlooks the court. The upper floor of the cafe provides a view of the sky and is partly covered by mushroom like umbrella structures to protect from direct sunlight. On this level, guests can also choose to sit outside on a covered terrace lined with bamboo-filled planters or the indoor dining area.

Setsugekka Japanese Cuisine in Changchun, China by Shanghai Hip-pop Architectural Decoration Design Co., Ltd.

Wednesday, November 28th, 2018

Article source: Shanghai Hip-pop Architectural Decoration Design Co., Ltd.

No matter how exquisite the concept and definition are, they most likely end up to be judge about “Form”. Therefore, chief designer from Shanghai Hip-pop as well as main designer of this project Mr. Sun said: we may reject any form of theory or opinion; however, we can’t refuse the potential influence from the architectural and interior environment that we live in. It seems “what do you want to convey” is more significant than to argue “what it is”.

The seemingly roundabout self-praise is actually a spiritual attitude with great sincerity, and this is the reason why the designer took “Setsugekka” as the name of this restaurant in the very beginning.

Gloriette in Ritten, Italy by NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Gloriette Guesthouse: A travel through time

Gloriette Guesthouse by noa * builds on the tradition of summer holidays at Ritten and adds another link to the chain. On the Bozner’s favourite mountain, a house was created, in which city and country merge together.

The former small hotel business Bergfink, which was an anchor point in the village structure and nestled amidst the rural-urban structure with all its bourgeois domiciles, built by wealthy Bolzano merchants around the turn of the century, was demolished and a new jewel was created in its place. As the name suggests, it is a gem in the landscape, inspired by the architectural typology in timelessly, elegant Art Nouveau. With the feeling of an era in which, – not at all pompous – the architecture of the city in a simplified form and without giving up completely on luxury and comfort on the Ritten transposed – generous, classic, simple, but not sober.
