Article source: TechnoArchitecture

Jayanagar is 13% North and 77% South of the equator. Name “Jayanagar” is supposed to have derived from the first name of erstwhile Maharaja, the ruler of Mysore. During its inceptions, most of the plots and sites were reserved for various government officials and during expansion the site were allotted to general public.

Present day Jayanagar comprises of residents of cosmopolitan nature inhibited by the upper class conservative society. Since the advent of information technology and the cropping of various new layouts all around Jayanagar has made it a Commercial Hub. Hence the birth and requirement of a new pub “SALUT-GASTROPUB”.

Boxing Cat Brewery Beijing in China by hcreates interiors and design

Monday, October 22nd, 2018

Article source: hcreates interiors and design

Boxing Cat Brewery’s flagship Beijing venue aims to bring you the ultimate craft beer and dining experience. Beer, as always, is the focus, with an on-site brewery visible through the glass behind the bar, large tap wall, chrome pipe ceiling feature and industrial metal clad counter.

The softened approach in materials contrasts the industrial elements which overall creates a more homely and comfortable dining experience.

The dining space makes reference to a typical tap-house interior with natural woods, concrete tile and an exposed high ceiling. The look is softened by fabric bench seating and Scandinavian styled furniture. Pops of maroon red, large art walls and screens inject Boxing Cat Brewery’s personality and brand throughout the space.

Hotel Atra Doftana in Romania by TECON

Thursday, October 18th, 2018

Article source: TECON

The building is situated nearby a mountain lake and is configured with two major volumes, taking advantage of the natural form of the site, which presents two major level drops intercalated with two approximately flat areas: one volume that houses the rooms and reception, and the second volume  that contains living and dining spaces, the restaurant kitchen and and technical spaces, both volumes are thus articulated as to exploit at maximum the geometric configuration of the land, orientation and views the site has, considering the insertion in site and how the building creates a dialogue with the environment.

Van der Valk Hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Wiel Arets Architects (WAA)

Thursday, October 18th, 2018

Article source: Wiel Arets Architects (WAA)

With origins as a highway-centric motel chain for travelers by automobile; Van der Valk is an international company, whose roots are Dutch, and whose hotels are almost always sited adjacent to highways, providing standard lodging and dining for those traveling long distances by car. Seeking to reposition itself in the Dutch market, while spurring a renewal of its image; the chain, long known for its hotels sited in-between major Dutch cities, will add a new location to their portfolio of properties, with a 26.000 m2 hotel in Amsterdam. Situated along the southern edge of the ring highway that encircles the city–the A10–the new hotel encompasses circa 240 rooms, several cafés and restaurants, a meeting center, congress hall, spa and wellness center, and a plethora of terraces offering views out over Amsterdam. Because the hotel is steps away from the city’s convention center–between the business district and ‘Old South’ neighborhood of the city, constructed just before the 1929 Olympic Games–the hotel is connected to the city through numerous bus, metro, and tram lines. The nearby train station, will also allow guests to easily explore the Netherlands, beyond Amsterdam. Standing at a height of 55 m, the hotel has 15 floors, which, in a nod to its storied motel history, positions it in prominent view of those driving on the adjacent highway.

Hunan Slurp Restaurant in New York by New Practice Studio

Wednesday, October 17th, 2018

Article source: New Practice Studio

For an eatery that features authentic street rice noodle from Hunan, we wanted to create a dining space that engages with the bustling neighborhood of East Village. The space is conceived as a place to look into and look out from, a continuous volume is carved out from the storefront into the interior so a direct dialogue is established between the street and the restaurant. A group of communal dining table anchors the center of the restaurant and adds to the continuity of the space. The interplay between white plastered wall and wood screen creates a bright and warm atmosphere. The rhythmic wood screen with fillet corners reinforces the geometry of the space, while resembling the rice noodle featured in this restaurant. The screen sits in front of existing brick walls where carefully designed backlighting adds another layer of subtlety to the space.

New Practice Studio is an interdisciplinary collaboration between architects, interior designers, graphic designers and brand strategists based in New York and Shanghai.

Icone Tower in Manila, Philippines by Henning Larsen Architects

Article source: Henning Larsen Architects

New Iconic Tower Will be a Landmark of Manila

We have won an international design competition for a new iconic building of Bonifacio Global City, in the heart of Manila, Philippines. The tower is a magnificent high-rise that will transform the skyline of Manila.

The tower features a large public plaza with a canopy of dense trees, state of the art workspaces, restaurants, a civic center with exhibition spaces and a spectacular public observatory at the top. The tower is designed to set an example for how tall buildings should give back to cities and its people and how to revitalize an entire area.

The design proposal has a height of 308 meters, and the novel profile is designed to redefine the skyline of Bonifacio as a global city and of Manila. At night, the tower will resemble a lighthouse for the city with its illuminated pinnacle. During the day, the tower will provide a public observatory with spectacular views.

San She House in Beijing, China by llLab.

Tuesday, October 16th, 2018

Article source: llLab.

Being situated in Beigou Village, Huairou, at the foot of the Mutianyu Great Wall, Beijing, such a space, seems to have much broader meaning than what it is being called.

A profitable extension of a newly constructed village resort, a more proactive and urbanized manner of communication emerged in the village, a sweet integration of originally contrasting life styles, an unprecedented cultural renaissance, a hint of the rural areas of China starting to be sliced apart as how it happened in the cities, or it is merely a space for food?

Blloku Cube in Tirana, Albania by Stefano Boeri Architetti

Monday, October 15th, 2018

Article source: Stefano Boeri Architetti

Located in the heart of Tirana, in the same urban district as the historical residence of Albanian Communist Party leader Enver Hoxha, the Blloku Cube is the new multifunctional center signed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, now under construction.

The building stands right on the junction between the streets of Pjeter Bogdani and Vaso Pasha, in the heart of the Blloku, one of the most prestigious districts in Tirana which, in the post-communist era, has gone from being a military zone of restricted access to a nerve center of city life, thanks to the proliferation of facilities, shops, bars and restaurants lining its characteristic and regularly shaped blocks. It is on these two streets that the main entrances of the building are positioned, to serve the retail center and the offices.

Kumoto is a tribute to the founders passion and the trajectory of Japanese cuisine.

After the success of the Tori Tori restaurants and in search of more intimate experience, we created a traditional Japanese restaurant concept, that a few local restaurants have developed.
