Tuesday, May 7th, 2019

Article source: Joshua Florquin Architecture

Les Dada East is a hair & styling salon located near Bastille in the heart of Paris. Its Italian founder Edoardo Seghi has created a salon that offers more than haircuts and a barbershop. The salon hosts cultural events such as art expositions and openings. The salon’s name is an homage to the 20th century Dada art movement. Edoardo commissioned Joshua Florquin Architecture to create a new concept and interior design that was in line with its philosophy and the Italian eco-inspired cosmetic brand Davines that they use.

The Hideout is a beauty salon recently designed by Ménard Dworkind architecture and design. It is built in the rapidly evolving Griffintown neighbourhood of Montreal.

The salon is inserted into a small commercial space at the base of a new condo building. The goal of the Hideout was to design a warm communal environment on a tight budget that had strong experiential impact. A significant element in the existing unit was a large concrete column that occupied the centre of the space. The layout revolved around this column as a central organizing element for the reception, manicure, makeup and pedicure stations.

“SWEET ROOM” is a hair salon located in Fujisawa city, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

After passing through the entrance of modern design, there is a spacious space like a lounge in the salon. Although it is caused by removing the partition as much as possible, the result is not only to show the space more widely but also to spread the sunlight from the large windows to the room. Glam Seamless in New York by Sergio Mannino Studio

Sunday, December 23rd, 2018

Article source: Sergio Mannino Studio

Glam Seamless is a well-established online business dedicated to high-quality, high-end hair extensions founded by Alexandra Cristin. Until now, Glam has been an entirely online venture. Earlier this year, Cristin contacted Sergio Mannino to create her first shop in Soho, NYC. A few months down the track, and Glam Seamless is up and running.

As an online business, Glam is pink, white and – you guessed it – glam. We needed to translate this brand into a physical space; at Sergio Mannino Studio, this is our job, and we love it. Designing the ‘physical version’ of an online brand is always an interesting challenge – and we know how important it is to succeed at the first attempt.

The salon is a smooth cream and millennial pink, with shimmering ombre string curtains defining and separating the two areas of the store. Together with the color scheme, the curtains contrast elegantly with the clean, modern-retro-inspired lines of the salon counters and displays. The displays are part glass, part sheer surface and part handmade pink Terrazzo tiles.
