IDC School of Psychology & Economics in Herzliya, Israel by Gottesman Szmeclman Architecture

Wednesday, July 13th, 2016

Article source: Gottesman Szmeclman Architecture

Situated on an extremely narrow site with eucalyptus trees along its southern & eastern edge, Gottesman-Szmelcman Architecture’s design of the Faculties of Psychology & Economics Building at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) reflects several key considerations: a commitment to “green” architecture; a desire to create clear and dynamic relationships between architecture and its surrounding; and a commitment to effectively and harmoniously incorporate carefully defined functions within each building.

Junior high school, boarding school, sports complex for the disabled and cultural center in Lille, France by Chartier Dalix Architectes

Tuesday, July 12th, 2016

Article source: Chartier Dalix Architectes

The Moulin Junior High School is located in the southern area of Lille, in a neighborhood that has undergone major transformations in recent decades. Mainly occupied by a population of workers, this neighborhood possesses an urban fabric that is still largely one of brick buildings, factories and buildings related to freight whose renovation has spurred a renewal of the entire neighborhood (as illustrated in reconversion of the Saint-Sauveur train station for example).

Sainte-Anne Academy, the school of tomorrow in Dorval, Canada by Taktik design

Tuesday, June 21st, 2016

Article source: v2com

Designing an elementary school of tomorrow in a 120,000 square-foot heritage building built in 1896—that’s the challenge that Sainte-Anne Academy gave Taktik Design. From room layout to furniture design to communications, this innovative project was undertaken by Taktik Design’s industrial, interior and graphic designers. After the team proposed the initial solutions, they were given carte blanche to create an efficient environment that accommodates the latest teaching standards. The fun-filled environment at the Academy was designed with kids in mind; the space is less of an interpretation of their imaginations and more of a blank canvas for their creativity.

Integral Kids Centre (IKC) Zeven Zeeën in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Moke Architecten

Saturday, June 11th, 2016

Article source: Moke Architecten

In Banne Buiksloot in the north of Amsterdam the general building fabric consists of high apartment blocks. In contrast the public buildings do the opposite. They form a network of low buildings that seek a strong connection to the public domain. The new 2 storey primary school, designed by the architect Gianni Cito of the Amsterdam office Moke Architecten, does the same. The school stands out due to its crenelated shed roof and the tribune stairway that connects the school with the playground. The playful round windows and the red scaly façade give the building an autonomous expression that fits its public role.
