Folk Arts Camp in Nagykálló, Hungary by Ekler Architect

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Article source: Ekler Architect

This new development is the extension of a summer camp built in the late 80s. The old buildings of the Folk Arts Camp were designed by Dezso Ekler and received wide publicity at the time. Now three new buildings are planned to build: a reception building, a building for different activities and a building accommodating sanitary facilities. The local council insisted on the new constructions also bearing the mark of the original buildings’ architect, and the designer interpreted this by enlarging his signature as buildings.

Container Hotel in Crimea, Ukraine by ZA Architects

Sunday, December 9th, 2012

Article source: ZA Architects

The main idea of the project is to create a flexible and multi-purpose solution for small and medium-sized hotel business. Here we suggest a modular structrure which can be easily  implemeted throughout Ukraine. If some changes in the insulation parameteres of certain details and in the layout of the hall should be made, this design can be realized in  other climates as well. In terms of structure, the hotel represents a construction kit on the basis of pre-fabricated units, such as “Containex”, which have the dimensions and technical specifications of maritime shipping containers.

Redevelopment of Malga Fosse in Trento, Italy By Organic Scapes and Architecture [OS+A]

Saturday, December 1st, 2012

Article source: Organic Scapes and Architecture [OS+A]

The concept design proposal is based on the social aspect that defines every manufactured product within its geographical scope. This social aspect manifests itself through the design of an externally equipped public space, internal common areas with natural light, an elaborate landscape and hard-scape design, a predisposition of interesting observation points and the contemplation of their surrounding context, and the desire to accentuate a constant permeable state between external and internal spaces.

Loft in Noho, New York City by Jendretzki llc.

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Article source: Jendretzki llc.

This 4,000 square foot classic loft space tries to maintain the openness, utilitarian and industrial language of its raw brick, wood, and steel elements exposed. We created separations between rooms by placing free standing volumes instead of floor to ceiling partitions creating a landscape of intriguing geography, materials, heights, light and shadow.

Upcycling Pavilion in Mexico City by BNKR Arquitectura

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Article source: BNKR Arquitectura

Expo CIHAC is the biggest annual architecture and construction exhibition in Latin America. Like many other exhibitions, it creates large-scale contamination due to the excess waste it generates. Almost all the pavilions of the different brands and products related to the architecture and construction industry, end up in the trash. Deeply concerned by this, we approached the exhibition principals with the proposal of creating a low cost – zero waste sustainable pavilion that could set an example for future exhibitions.

Samrode Building in Ventspils, Latvia by Krists Karklins Design and Arhitektūras Birojs FORMA

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Article source: Krists Karklins Design

The design of addition to the Samrode, SIA construction company headquarters in Ventspils is based on the desire of the client and the project team to create a compact and contemporary architectural volume that maintains a harmonious and complimentary relationship with its historic city center context. The conceptual narrative for this building is based on three scales of purposeful design operations in response to opportunities/limitations offered by the site. From the urban design perspective, the massing of this building is determined by the precedent outlines of a munitions warehouse and a wooden shed, previously present on the site.

Article source: Jendretzki llc.

This re-imagining of an Ulrich Franzen masterpiece, delicately updates materials, and reconfigures its use adapting it for a corporate headquarters of a shipping company. The division of the individual spaces generates the creation of volumes stand distant enough to structure so that its original features are still primary to the whole.
