Hengxu International Hotel is located in Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Yibin City (a prefectural-level city) in Sichuan Province. In the process of urban modernization, cities like Yibin desire for a ‘land mark’ which in most of property developers’ mind has eccentric form and remarkable height. However, what ‘landmark’ means to us, is not the physical condition but the cultural and spiritual core. In this project, Yushe Design tries to create a complex based on the “faraway mountains and nearby water\” around the site and echoes to the city’s identity as “Shan-Shui city” which is best known for its mountainous terrain and the first city on Yangtze river. With 384 guest rooms, the new 22-storey, 122,500-square-meter hotel &complex serves as a dynamic addition to the city.

More than just a screen for privacy and sun-protection, the concrete brise-soleil captures and intensifies nature along the perimeter of the house – a series of lush, landscaped verandahs immediately adjacent to the indoor spaces. Every single room at the upper levels looks into its very own private garden; one with a semi-outdoor bathtub that is literally outside, yet visually protected and well sheltered from the elements.

The Star House owes its name to its owners house guest, who after having the opportunity to experience the architecture, compared its shape to a star. The project made a deep impression on him, so much so, he later asked the architects responsible for the Star House to design one especially for him.
The association made by the house guest is justified – the house consists of three volumes, placed radially to one another at different angles. It provides an interesting and rare opportunity to see the exterior facade of the house from the inside. Each volume represents different function: living, sleeping and utility.
A resting residence house designed on a single floor for a retired couple and their guests. This house was built on a regular 20 m lot on each side located in a Golf club in the city of Mérida. The architectural response on a single level was an important piece that allowed to obtain an additional 10% of land occupation (COS) and take advantage of the native trees that were already on the site. With the idea of compacting what was built and meeting the particular request to optimize the user, a 17m front x 14m deep module was designed forming a piece of 238m2.
A 3-patio house on a hillside in the city of Tijuana. The house takes advantage of the city views to the east with a linear balcony, then it centers around an entry courtyard that allows natural light to penetrate all the interiors. The hillside helps create a small garden and green roof for the guest bedroom and studio space. The house is in constant dialogue between the inside and outside.
Designed for a social scientist, the project is an interplay of layered spaces. Rendered in white allowing its interior to be a canvass of natural color throughout the day. All of its inhabited open spaces lay in a seamless second-floor level that moves from interior to the exterior as daily life progresses.
