The principal aim of designing Chennai Airport was to minimize the heat gain and maximize the day lighting throughout the terminal as much as possible. High level of sustainability in nearly every aspect of design, including restoration of the native landscape, passive energy conservation strategies, material selection, onsite storm water detention, and on site waste water treatment and dispersal systems are being aimed at.
Chennai Airport, which is a prominent gateway to South India, has been specially designed for attaining a high level of sustainability in nearly every aspect of design. With its beautiful lush green gardens and smart calculative design, this structure is a landmark in the architectural world which redefines the future possibilities. This project, which is termed as “The Greenest Airport “ by The Architectural Record is designed by Ms Creative Group, under the charismatic leadership of Prof. Charanjit Shah and Ar. Gurpreet Shah. Creative Group, in association with Gensler and Frederic Schwartz Architects, won the international design competition for Chennai Airport in 2007 on the basis of its innovative energy efficient design. This mega infrastructure project of Airports Authority of India is built with a cost of Rs 2012 Crores which sprawls over a total area of more than 2,50,000 Sqm.
Situated at 982 meters above sea level, this cabin has harsh winter conditions and heavy snowfall. The site has a panoramic view overlooking the valley of Geilo. During winter the cabin is only accessible with ski or snowmobile.
Fokkema & Partners developed the interior design for the new – energy neutral – City Hall of Krimpen with an energy label A++. A welcoming entrance invites citizens to visit the City Hall for the services in the public area, which have open counters with a view through the building and to water around it. Flexibility fits the new way of working in the City Hall, which translates to a large diversity of workplaces and ways to arrange various spaces.
The Plane-Tree-Cube was designed as a contribution for the Regional Horticultural Show in Nagold in 2012. It was conceptualized as a long-term Baubotanik experiment within an urban context. By the help of “Plan Addition” techniques, a green cube with an edge length of 10 meters was created that, right from the beginning, had the dimension of a full-grown tree. Initially, young plane trees are arranged in plant containers on six levels. They form green walls around a space open to the sky.

Invitation to innovate
In the design for the new incubator and multi-tenant building on the university campus in Wageningen, start-ups and knowledge-intensive technological businesses in the agro and food sectors will have a place for research and open innovation.
‘Plus Ultra’ means ‘there will always be unchartered territory to be discovered and explored’ (see footnote) and symbolizes the commitment to continuous innovation.
Ruta 40 is a workspace characterised by a strong home-like feeling. The design meets the need for a space for informal interaction as well as a welcoming place to work. The office was created in a light-filled mansard, previously used as a residential flat. Every space has its own precise function. The living room became a comfortable lounge, the kitchen, which is hidden in the lounge, can host up to two work stations, the bathroom is like a tiny spa, with a bench for relaxing and enjoying the view laid out on the walls, and the two bedrooms were transformed into warm, welcoming offices.
House L project derives from the need to create a new connection for the rooms of an existing house in Valle de Bravo, in a very beautiful natural environment. So far, some romos were accessed through other rooms and why the owners did not feel comfortable to invite friends because they could not offer them privacy.
The initial project also included a new two-story independent volume, which functioned as an apartment with a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette.
It was such a great honor for me to design the renovation of my favorite building that I used to see every day. About nine years ago, we had co-established a shared office HAPPA across the street from the building and relocated our former office there; we employed to observe the neighborhood through the glass and this building was my most favorite among others on the street.
The building zone is situated at 5 meters distance of the lateral limits. On the street side, it’s aligned on the advanced parts of the houses on the west. Its depth is 15 meters. The Garden is oriented at the north-northeast.
Designed on the basis of the volumetric language and templates already present in the « Champ », the houses merge very well in the characteristic built environment of the « Champ des Mottes ».

Sapoon Sapoon is a compound word of Saponin, main ingredient of red ginseng, and Spoon, a tool to deliver taste and nutriment of food. As Sapoon also means ‘a figure of light and careful step’ and ‘light and refreshing state of body and mind’ in pure Korean word, people can feel refreshing scenery with light beverage. Sapoon Sapoon is a casual space created by KGC in order to be free from the perception, ‘Red ginseng is nothing but health functional food’, while keeping credibility of company and its quality-first spirit. Betwin Space Design grafted traditional ideology of Cheong-Kwan-Jang on this café modernly.
