The integration of the residence into a semi-urban environment is dealt with as a scenario of revelation and dissimulation between private, public and semi-public space; that is to say creating a fluidity of the limits between the living spaces and the public spaces of the building, without however underestimating the importance of privacy. The size of the property is approximately width 2.5m and depth 11m. This small and narrow piece of land is a typical “eels’ bed” site, where one can reach his/her arm from left wall to right wall even though buildings stand very tight and compact next to one another. We have tried to reserve as much space as possible as well as to provide psychological openness for the resident. Artist Studio/Residence in Woodstock, New York by Gans studioFriday, July 3rd, 2015Article source: Gans studio The studio residence is a free-standing building that completes an ensemble of experience and use in relation to a pre-existing house and a landscape. The new building contains a small drawing studio, workroom and kiln tucked beneath a library and a bedroom suite that overlook a double height sculpture space. It connects to the pre-existing house via two bridges: an upper bridge that extends from the living room to a new roof garden floating before the Catskills; and a lower bridge that ties the studio back into the hillside. ORIGAMI ark in Himeji, Japan by Matsuya Art WorksWednesday, July 1st, 2015Article source: Matsuya Art Works This showroom is built to sustain the tanners in the leather manufacturing business, which is local traditional industry in Himeji City, a suburban city in Japan. The showroom highlights the enormous range of leather materials that makes the clients strength and meets his wish to communicate and show the diversity of his products. This specificity leads us to focus on the interior design that allows us to better display the project rather than the exterior shape of the building. The request was to display over 3000 leather items in a very narrow exhibition space limited to 300 m². In order to respond to this range, a second and third floor must be built, however separating the display into several floors might not leave the wanted impression of the huge diversity of leather products offered by the house. Therefore, the Idea was to build an enormous three-dimensional fixture in a single exhibition room. A huge frame was built in shape of a jungle gym using 100x100mm² square steel pipes, creating a three dimensional display fixture. The Grand dimensions of this fixture creates in the visitors mind an impressive understanding of the overwhelming range of products with a single glance. Moreover, leaving more space to move freely provides an experience similar to exploring a jungle gym inside making the discovery of the leather materials’ variety more exciting. Pfarré lighting design studio in Munich, GermanyTuesday, June 23rd, 2015Article source: Pfarré lighting design studio Project The former store for antique luminaires im Munich‘s Alt-Schwabing district provided an ideal L-shaped ground plan for the workplaces and other areas of the new studio. All main technical features, such as print/copy, large-format printer, coffee, server, etc. are hidden behind a new space divider, which also houses the product library, and consumable supplies. With this divider, a generous space between divider and the shop windows has been created for meetings and presentations. Thanks to the digitalization of the working process and archives, the size of the studio remained the same as before. However, 5 desks have been reduced in size. A 8 m long shelve unit provides space to work and store, below a pinboard with the same length. At the former studio site out of town PLD is still equipped with a lavish archive and further space for testing, mock-ups, and models.  Image Courtesy © Frank Koschembar
