No 86 in Singapore by ROBERT GREG SHAND ARCHITECTS

Thursday, July 12th, 2018

Article source: ROBERT GREG SHAND ARCHITECTS

The property in Singapore’s Luxury Island Resort of Sentosa Cove is built on a long narrow plot with views to the rear of the Sentosa Golf Course.  The design inspiration for the house was a traditional Japanese courtyard house, with rooms spilling onto terraces that surround a central courtyard garden.  Combined with a holistic approach to sustainability and climactic needs, this contemporary beach house is a refreshing escape for the family that owns it.

Aliveri Summer House in Greece by Natalia Kokosalaki | Architecture

Friday, July 6th, 2018

Article source: Natalia Kokosalaki | Architecture

When the client approached us his initial need was just a swimming pool with a bbq space to implement the existing house of his extended family on the plot next door. The design concept was to erode a monolithic volume that is compact on the external sides, providing protection and corroded internally where niches act as indoor inhabitable areas, protected but preserving vistas of the sea in front.

Pasqua House in São Paulo, Brazil by studio mk27

Wednesday, July 4th, 2018

Article source: studio mk27

Pasqua House is a single-family country house.

A leafy boulevard of flamboyant trees (also known as royal poincianas) that seasonally dye one side of the lot with intense red was of great importance to define the architectural design approach. A 27-meter-long hollow brick wall, made of precast concrete panels painted white, delimits this side of the plot and poetically integrates the interior and the exterior. The concrete hollow brick has become the trademark of this project. At the same time it provides privacy without blocking off the landscape, it brings different emotions throughout the day with the different shapes of light and shadows it creates on the floor as the sun changes direction, and the passing of time is clearly marked by the light that enters with different intensities. The hollow brick wall also creates a subtle relationship between the lot and the street, allowing the users to enjoy the external spaces either from the living room or the internal patio.

One Blackfriars in London, England by WSP

Sunday, July 1st, 2018

Article source: WSP

One Blackfriars, London is a mixed-use complex located near the southern bank of the Thames River that includes a 170-meter residential tower, low-rise hotel, and a three-story basement with a pool, spa, cinema, and other amenities. WSP worked with their client St. George to build and design the project, including the unique geometry of the residential tower. To develop the structural framing that would maximize apartment layouts, every floor and apartment had to be a different size and shape. Not only did WSP need a structural solution for the varied floor plans, but it also needed to design support columns that offered unobstructed views without intruding on the apartment spaces.

Casa luna in Nerviano, Italy by BURATTI ARCHITETTI

Thursday, June 28th, 2018

Article source: BURATTI ARCHITETTI

This house has two souls as it has two levels: the ground floor is bright and open to the outside, enclosing all the typical functions like the living room, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms; the underground floor is an intimate place, enclosed and dark, like a “bunker” where, in a large relax area, you can chill out on the sofa composition, watch a movie on the big screen, read a book in the wooden alcove or swim in the pool.
