Nuova Sede Centro Edile Andrea Palladio in Vicenza, Italy by OFL Architecture

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

The new Andrea Palladio Building Center is made of a structural skin evoking nature, like tree branches that by weaving themselves create a dynamic façade made of steel and glass. The arches on the ground floor evoke the architecture of the Renaissance, and suggest the idea of an ethical and emotional architecture. Steel and glass together, combined as something organic and dynamic, allow the building to be in harmony with the context. The shielding front is made of mirror glass panels with a thickness of 10 mm. They have the double function of reflecting the natural environment and protecting the building from the sun. The glazed turbots, generated by the external structure, and the plastic tubes that pervade the entire building have been designed in order to enable the sectors to obtain an adequate level of lighting comfort.

Habit make us blind in Valencia, Spain by Espai MGR

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Day by day we pass by vacant lots downtown. Just like an invisible metastasis generated in the heart of the city and extending to all its arteries. Neighborhoods that, although having a huge potential, have more and more unused spaces, a fact that does not at all promote a correct sustainable development. Years have made us immune to this problem. It’s a landscape we already recognize as typical of the central neighborhoods in Valencia.

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

The house is located in one of the oldest residential colonies in Guadalajara, it is almost the only sheered area of a city that is mostly leveled, and this allows the place to receive good winds and to accomplish a great view from the second level at the nor-west of the city. The irregular shape of the space generates a sharp corner surrounded by the great foliage of trees that are already located on the sidewalk.

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

We just received some new images for this project. So, here is the updated project.

If museums are turning into supermarkets, why then should department stores not turn into museums?

“The Galleria Cheonan responds to the current retail climate in Asia, where department stores also operate as social and semi-cultural meeting places. Because of this, the quality of the public spaces within the building was treated as an integral aspect of the design.”, Ben van Berkel
