The EXO in Dublin, Ireland by Shay Cleary Architects

February 8th, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Shay Cleary Architects

The landmark EXO building by Shay Cleary Architects is the tallest commercial office building in Ireland. A unique engineering challenge, the building features a distinctive and highly innovative external exo-skeleton which forms the main structure, leaving a predominantly column free floor plate and referencing the iconic blue gantries of the Dublin docklands. The building features an extensive 1,000m2 landscaped roof garden to which all tenants have access.

Its pristine form responds to its unique location adjacent to the 3Arena, extending the public realm at ground floor under and around the structure. A highly sustainable commercial development, it was the first building project in Europe to achieve LEED V3 Platinum certification ahead of practical completion.

Agli Amici 1887 new entrance in Udine, Italy by Visual Display S.r.l.

A room overlooking the town square, that’s totally redesigned by the creative studio Visual Display [interior, identity, stories] to transform the previous tavern into the new entrance of the 2 Michelin stars restaurant “Agli Amici 1887” in Udine.

The space turns into a place to enjoy a welcome aperitif, fully becoming part of the proposed gastronomic experience, indeed anticipating it. The concept was therefore born with the idea of making this space – which is in fact the customer’s first approach to the kitchen and the philosophy of chef Emanuele Scarello – a place suspended in time, silent, surprising, and representative of the very essence of the restaurant.

When a young family of 3 found out they were soon going to be 4, they decided that it was time to look for a bigger home. They fell in love with the charm of a house on Montreal’s south shore designed by the architect Frank McGrath in 1981 but after 40 years of wear and tear, it was in need of a major renovation. They approached MRDK whose sensibility to detail and nostalgia would be a good fit for their renovation.

Modernization And Restoration Of The Ipiranga Museum in São Paulo, Brazil by H+F ARQUITETOS

The set of proposed interventions does not want to be highlighted. The general objective is not to impose the face of the new, but to reveal in a new way what is already there, through articulations, spatial dispositions and new paths that the interventions discreetly provide. The emphasis of the new elements does not reside in their appearance, but in their performance, in what they are capable of promoting, in their effectiveness in dynamizing and enhancing the virtues of the preexisting ones.

Retrici in Vilnius, Lithuania by YCL studio

Three elements the rectangle, the circle, and the triangle creates a sculptural composition in a two-floor apartment. 120 square meters are divided into two floors. The first floor is the main area, with the master bedroom, while the second floor has two separate children’s rooms. A dark-toned rectangle shape separates the entrance and wet areas from the cozy, wood-floored areas of the apartment. The main bathroom has a romantic bathtub situated just under the roof window, while other areas (WC and shower) are hidden in two separate dark zones.

The client approached us with the willingness to design a jewellery boutique at one of the prime locations in Ahmedabad, named CG Road. This 1500 sq. ft. carpet area boutique store is designed to be serene, with neutral white walls and minimal texture added by veneering furniture.

The main aim of the design was to amalgamate creativity, functionality, and practicality to provide a completely immersive experience to the client and the customers. It was to be kept in mind that the design should not only be trendy and refreshing but also maintain a certain degree of the classic timelessness the brand stood for.

KDW199 in Amsterdam, Netherlands by CUBE architecten

February 3rd, 2023 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: CUBE architecten

The house originates from 1934 and was relatively untouched. The goal was to make it a lot more energy efficient and quite a bit larger. The old house did have a lot of character and details we wanted to keep. With the new extension we wanted to merge a completely different style and atmosphere with this 1930’s ambiance; the secure and warmth atmosphere of the old part combined with the open and transparent feel of a modern home. The floor of the open kitchen diner in the new extension is placed two steps lower than the living room in the older part. Looking from the backyard you can’t really see the classic front of the house. Yet from the street you can hardly see the modern extension in the back. And yet on the inside the 2 merge easily.
