Article source: PROJECT INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE The Citlik tree that inhabits the site and also gives its name to the town is a symbolic tree in this region. According to the mythology, whoever eats the fruit of the tree will be unable to leave the area. The owners could feel the history lure them to this spot, and unable to venture away, decided to build their home. Client desired the juxtaposition between simple and timeless, transparent and private all at an affordable rate. They wanted to build a life that was not restrained inside the home. As a botanist, the owner desired a home where her design concept extended out beyond the home and into the natural landscape. Her partner is an off-road motorbike rider and founder of a channel for enduro. They both wanted their home to reflect both their emotional and professional connection to the environment. These philosophical parameters inspired the design process.

In the 1980s measures for improvement of the acoustics were taken. The side-aisles and the sanctuary were clad with a 5m high layer of wood-fiber panels on a wooden sub-structure. A gallery was erected in the rear part of the nave. The historical frescoes were partly covered by paint and are being restored. A complete restoration is not possible, and currently only parts of the frescoes are being brought to the surface.

Article source: Wilmotte & Associés The halle Freyssinet, formerly known as “Messageries d’Austerlitz”, is a shed for goods transhipment which was built in the late 1920s by the French engineer Eugène Freyssinet, as part of a programme for the extension and modernization of facilities of the Compagnie d’Orléans. This remarkable building in prestressed reinforced concrete is located in the urban renewal area of the Paris Rive Gauche ZAC [Mixed Development Area], lying below the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. This innovative technique for applying concrete – prestressing – was used to provide the shed with an exceptionally slender loadbearing structure (less than 5 cm thick at the roof ridge in certain places). As a result, it has been listed since 2012 in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.

Article source: Porebski Architects The owners of this house contacted us after they visited our first house in Castlecrag designed by us in 1972. They were drawn to the compact size, the subtle building palette of the house and the respect it had towards the Walter Burley Griffin conservation area. As the owner grew up in the original post-war house built by his parents on the site (similar to the surrounding houses) their knowledge of the site was very helpful. Also on the edge of the Walter Burley Griffin conservation area, the site has a fall from the street to the rear of about 3m and a lovely rock outcrop that was opened up to the public at the rear.
