Article source: TEAM BLDG Known as Imperial Street, Middle Zhongshan Road was one of the most important streets of Hangzhou in Southern Song Dynasty. The prosperity and flourishment of this busy street lasted till the 1990s. In the early 2000s, with the business core area shifted, Middle Zhongshan Road became a pedestrian street in the old town where culture relics of old Hangzhou remains. Our renovation project is located at No. 295, Middle Zhongshan Road, near the Jishanfang Alley. The original building was surrounded by shops and old houses with vigorous vibes of business and daily life. The renovation includes the elevation, interior and some display props. On completion, it became Becó295 undertaking the function of designer select store, showroom, workshop and cafe etc.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) led the design team, replacing a 50-year-old arrivals facility with a dynamic structure nearly five times bigger, dramatically improving the passenger experience. The IAF comprises an aerial walkway the longest of its kind in the world a Grand Hall, and a secure corridor to increase the number of international-capable gates. “This is an all-new welcome to our region and airport for an international traveler, and it’s a dramatic improvement,” says Lance Lyttle, Managing Director of SEA Airport. “Everything from the views out the windows, the iconic walkway, and the intuitiveness of the facility make this an exceptional customer experience.”

A place where the tranquility of nature wins the battle against the frenetic energy of the city. The design of the office is focused on improving the health, creativity and efficiency of workers, following the global trend of the ‘third space’; an environment that combines the comfort of home with the functionality of work spaces. The project was shortlisted for the 2021 Dezeen Awards, in the ‘workspaces’ category.

Article source: Chyutin Architects The regeneration scheme deals with the overall planning of Jerusalem’s city hall district and its Municipal square. The origins of its construction, may be traced to the emergence of Jewish neighborhoods outside of the Old City Walls during the latter half of the 19th Century. The compound includes a variety of buildings, some unique examples of Ottoman architecture and numerous late 19th-early 20th Century buildings, planned by some of the finest British architects from the Mandate period. The new scheme proposes the construction of new buildings and re-uses of existing ones. Its goal is the strengthening the touristic, commercial, and residential activities of the compound, as well intensifying the usage of its public spaces.

Article source: Nitzan Horowitz This penthouse apartment, located on the 21st floor of an apartment block in central Israel was bought by a family of six. The owners wanted a “Villa in the clouds”, in the sense that the property, spreading across 220 sqm of living space, and a 170 sqm balcony, would incorporate all the functionalities that standard private homes have, such as a family room, a wide corridor and a stunning outdoor space. Designer Nitzan Horowitz, who was hired to manage the renovation, designed the apartment in a way that would accommodate the family’s needs. The project started on the day the first set of keys was received and lasted seven months.

Inspired, among others, by the work of Le Corbusier, young Avant-garde architects Josef Havlíček and Karel Honzík designed an open-cross plan building – the first Prague skyscraper conceived as a solitaire amongst the typical residential block buildings of the time.
