Article source: L’eau Design Camouflage is a word which describes the action of particular creatures that disguise their color or form according to their circumstances for survival. Some years ago, New York fell into love with vintage style hotels which are created by converting an old factory in an abandoned industrial district thus vividly represent the history of the 20th century industrial era. Those hotels are providing not only beautiful interior spaces demonstrating the passage of time but also new energy and vigor for local communities through innovative intervention on the desolate industrial area. A key decision of the project was to divide it in two areas that share the same entrance space: the functional maternity unit and the mothers’ waiting area, a new program born as a result of the sociological analysis of the site. It was expected that the emblematic oval form of the church be demolished. Instead the kindergarten colonized the nave. Article source: TSEH Architectural Group The cafe ‘Unit’ became one of the objects of the revitalization project of the part of the plant in Kiev and our team was working on it. This cafe is for students who study at IT-school ‘Unit Factory’. In the beginning we did not plan to build it. But while working on the IT-school project, we understood that there was not so much space for a big canteen or a cafeteria in the reconstructed building. Then we decided to offer the investor to locate the cafe apart. We told about the opportunity to use sea containers and after sketches we got the approval for preparing detailed documents. The cafe became a peculiar business card, a bright spot. Residents, students and other people eat, have meetings, discuss business and get acquainted informally on the territory of Unit City – the name that was given to the territory of the revitalization. Fourteen sea containers were used in the implementation of the Unit Cafe project. One of them is vertical and there is a staircase in it. On the first floor there is an open terrace that is located in the console way above the ground floor. The console of the first floor is 7,5 metres. It has a great school and business centers views. There is water from the one side and it leads to the bridge entrance. Exterior and interior have something in common. A bright green container (the first floor) is partly painted in this colour, too. There are comfortable sofas, tables with chairs and plants on the ground and on the first floors . There is a kitchen, a lavatory and pantries on the ground floor. Article source: GAD Architecture ANTALYA-THE PLACE The stretch of land along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast that forms the modern city of Antalya has a long history of being a multicultural seaport. Though not formally organized as a true city until around 150 BC, the area was occupied and under the authority of great societies like the Hittites and Persians for nearly 2,000 years beforehand. As Alexander the Great moved east against the Persians and towards India, his armies took all of Anatolia, beginning the heavy and long standing Greek influence in Antalya. After Alexander’s death, his empire was notoriously divided amongst his four generals, leading to the establishment of the Kingdom of Pergamon in Asia Minor. One of the rulers from Pergamon’s Attalid Dynasty, King Attalus II, saw promise in the area and formally settled the city–hence it being named Attaleia in his honor–and making it the main base for his navy. Article source: MNMA studio “Nothing is invented; there is a past to everything.” The expansion project of the Egrey store in São Paulo happened intuitively, thinking first of the contact of the architectural object with its immediate urban context.The main point of contact between the interior of the store and the outside environment is its sidewalk which has been transformed into a large continuous plane.The connection between the two existing volumes that compose the store is given by the white metallic paneling as a more aseptic background that values the large transparent and translucent openings. Article source: AZC This project located at 88 avenue Denfert Rochereau in Paris includes several works of demolition, asbestos removal and reconstruction. The Congregation of the Blind Sisters of St. Paul is mainly surrounded by religious functions and programs dedicated to healthcare. Its main access is currently possible from the avenue on the south side of the site.
