Impala House in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Friday, April 14th, 2017

Article source: Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Impala House is a box, a big container, built in the forest of Cariló, in front of a forest reserve. The residence indirectly touches the terrain with a plinth that nestles the services.

The lot, which presents a strong transversal change of level, inspired a spacious public plan that takes full advantage of the terrain. From the top of it, the landscape dominates the views and then melts away with the lot in the solarium/swimming pool.

Tostado Suipacha Coffee Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Hitzig Militello Arquitectos

Friday, January 27th, 2017

Article source: Hitzig Militello Arquitectos

Starting off from the idea of recreating the spirit of the traditional Buenos Aires groceries without resorting to cliches, we worked with the materiality of what to us best reflects this kind of store: the wooden box for groceries. The sheer simplicity of this single element can generate spatiality both by addition and subtraction. The result attempts to describe this spirit, which was built by the abstraction of these elements. In short: constructing the decoration without decorating the construction.

Wednesday, December 21st, 2016

Article source: Ventura Virzi Arquitectos

Kenneth Frampton considers Tectonics not only as a “mere disclosure of the construction technique, but, rather, its expressive potential. Tectonics acquires a truly artistic character to the extent that it amounts to a poetics of construction… The inevitable ground nature of a building has a character so tectonic and tactile as scenic and visual, although none of these attributes denies its spatiality.

Monochromatic, distinguishing the house volume detaching it from the rest. White, so its emphatic forms are not mixed with the environment.

Its symmetry creates a linear, compact look, reserving all the intimacy to the back facade, completely open to the lake.
