Uno Tower in Melbourne, Australia by Elenberg Fraser

Sunday, September 22nd, 2019

Article source: Elenberg Fraser

111-125 A’Beckett St, located in Melbourne’s CBD is a 65 storey mixed use development. Encompassing a heritage building, the podium houses ground floor retail, foyer space, a childcare centre, and car parking with residences activating the aspect towards A’Beckett St. 54 levels of tower then rise out of the podium, housing the remainder of the residential apartments, with residential amenities located on levels 1 and 9.

The site is located on the northern fringe of Melbourne’s CBD. It enjoys immediate access to all of central Melbourne’s retail, recreation and employment opportunities, remaining animated yet distanced from the intensity of the busy city centre.

The site is home to a heritage building which is architecturally significant at a state level. The building is a prime representative example in Victoria of the ‘Streamlined Moderne’ style, popular in the 1930s, having horizontal emphasis with accents of curves. Taking cues from this streamline modern period, our building grows from its heritage foundations into the future, embracing sustainable and technological architectural advancements in design.

Article source: David Mitchell Architects

Fit-out of a Sri Lankan restaurant & bar based in inner Sydney. Steel shelves filled with colourful spice jars, polished concrete, copper lighting, dark timber and leather seating with a busy open kitchen at one end and a high bar at the other. A long, narrow space makes for a bustling atmosphere where the sambols, hoppers and curries fly out of the kitchen from lunch until late.

Tuesday, August 27th, 2019

Article source: Luigi Rosselli Architects

Designed on a steep site, located just below the summit of Bellevue Hill, this substantial residence has been endowed with an eagle’s nest panorama.  The harbour is Sydney’s stage set and here on this hill we sit in the dress circle of this theatrical city, the stalls, with their restricted views, lie below in the flat and crowded areas of the town.

Penthouse18 in Sydney, Australia by Stukel Architecture

Friday, August 23rd, 2019

Article source: Stukel Architecture

Equipped for entertaining, this dynamic penthouse in the heart of Surry Hills is inspired by commercial hospitality interiors. Our clients, a couple from France and New York, worked with us to make bold and unexpected choices for their Sydney chapter.

The existing 2 bedroom apartment had a poorly planned layout and lacked generosity of movement and proportion. One incredible asset was a very large roof terrace offering views out across the southern Sydney CBD skyline. The new floor plan has been designed to connect all new fixtures to the existing services of waste, water and power. The positioning of the wet areas and kitchen avoided the disruptive and expensive process of core holing through the concrete slab into the ceiling space of the neighbour below.

The Elms in Brighton, Australia by Chan Architecture Pty Ltd

Friday, August 23rd, 2019

Article source: Chan Architecture Pty Ltd

The Elms is a boutique development of 5 apartments located on a quiet, tree-lined street in the bayside suburb of Brighton, Melbourne.

The architecture of the Elms was inspired by the beautiful Elm trees which line both sides of the street providing an ever changing streetscape with colour and texture. The large leaves of the Elm trees are oval in shape with distinctive veins, both of which have been referred to in the façade patterning of the two large architectural elements on either side of the front entrance.

Aquas Perma Solar Firma in Alexandria, Australia by CplusC Architectural Workshop

Thursday, August 22nd, 2019

Article source: CplusC Architectural Workshop

Located in a former light industrial area, AQUAS PERMA SOLAR FIRMA reconsiders the terrace typology stamped along Sydney’s streets without regard for the environment and instead provides a site sensitive response to a functional rather than prescriptive brief. With amenities aplenty at their doorstep, such as Sydney Park which is a short walk away the clients were keen to experiment how their site might work harder for them in the realms of energy and food production, utilising every square metre efficiently.

AQUAS PERMA SOLAR FIRMA is a home tailored to the needs of a modern, environmentally conscious and socially responsible couple. Our most sustainable project to date, it includes an aquaponics system for fish harvesting, rain water storage for use throughout the home, a wicking bed to filter water, compost, a worm farm and chicken coop working in harmony with a productive vegetable garden, an evacuated glass tube solar hot water system and a 3KW photovoltaic power generation system to run the home and charge the couple’s electric car.

Balmoral House in Sydney, Australia by CHROFI

Tuesday, August 13th, 2019

Article source: CHROFI

The Balmoral House is located within the lower north-shore suburb of Balmoral. The site presents many difficulties being wedged shaped, on the low side of the street, hemmed in by two substantial existing houses and with just half the land area of its neighbours. Where previously the site would have enjoyed the benefits of a sunny rear yard beyond the rear building alignment, this is no longer the case with the yard having been sold-off to the neighbours.
Our design process has been about finding amenity where on first appearance there appears to be little.

Brick & Gable House in Melbourne, Australia by Breathe Architecture

Wednesday, August 7th, 2019

Article source: Breathe Architecture

Breathe Architecture were initially engaged to build a larger house for a family of four, but after living overseas, they realised that they could live in a smaller footprint and the project evolved to the renovation of a heritage listed terrace house. Our clients loved the original character and stories that were attached to the house, so protecting that was important to them.
