“Schiebel Elektronische Geräte GmbH” arranged a strategy competition in summer 2005 for a production hall with an integrated office building, which should represent the identity of the international aviation company. Because of a nearby testing area in close proximity of an airfield, the site in Wiener Neustadt was chosen as a ideal location. The design of project A01 architects ZT GmbH won the competition and the architects were commissioned to the design the building, the interior and to conduct the construction process. The work started in fall 2005 and lasted until summer 2006. The completion of the interior was finished in 2007. The building is composed of two parts: The office unit is arranged lengthwise facing the street and the production hall is located next to the airfield. The office area holds the major administrative functions of production, marketing, research and education. The meeting room is attached to a generous deck for visitors, which is used for airshows. The function of the employee‘s area was considered to be important and accordingly arranged with an own terrace accessible from the lunchroom. The production area contains two thousand square meters. The hall holds not only an area for assembly and fabrication work, but also an area for design, development and attendance. The autonomous helicopters are developed and manufactured with the latest production processes. The innovative concept and design of the camcopter was awarded with the „Staatspreis für Design 2005“, the highest Austrian design award, and is distributed all around the world.

The idea to build a residence with a central courtyard, following the perception of the well-known case study houses, was the initial approach for the project. The living area gathers around this open space and the pool frames the landscape, thereby enclosing the courtyard. Controlled outlooks and space-interacting structures open up the building towards the surrounding nature and at the same time give form to the self-contained building with its central element. The sloping terrain is raised up to a constructed platform, simultaneously extending the garden area.
Our exhibition house for timber construction company Kaspar Greber and its cooperating timber trading partners transcends classic product presentation by means of samples and leaflets. Potential clients and visitors can experience the product and its construction first hand, by touching, smelling, feeling it. Our take on the region’s classic gable roof refers to the company’s core competence, house building.
In the Bregenzerwald, an alpine valley in Western Austria, transhumance is still the commonly practised form of farming: Livestock is driven to graze on mountain pastures in the warmer months. The lower ones of these pastures are called Vorsäß while the higher ones, used in the warmest summer months, are called Alpe.
From the service workshops to the heliport all the elements of the programme are laid out along a single vertical axis, i.e. also from the counter to the reception and the event areas to the large atrium of the offices. Logistically compact contents with high degree of efficiency, which is essentially what support points are, are here transformed and applied to the building in a translated form.

The landmark silhouette of the new corporate headquarters marks the entrance to the Hohe Brücke business park in Wolfurt, Vorarlberg. Articulated into individual volumes, the complex presents itself, despite its varying building heights and sizes, as a convincing ensemble with a significant presence. With its strong identity and high recognition value, the new building also visually anchors the company at its location in the Rhine valley plain.

Mountain and the foothills of the Swiss Alps. A 42 metre long pier connects the pile structure situated on the eastern coast of Lake Constance to the recreational zone of the same name on shore. The revitalisation of the entire complex has also just been completed: the coastal promenade was extended, new pedestrian and bike The “Am Kaiserstrand” bathhouse in western Austria offers spectacular views of the Bay of Bregenz, Pfaender paths were laid out, and a historic hotel complex was refurbished.
The core idea of the multifunctional house is to create an exhibition and living space with an extensive sculpture garden at the edge of a far-reaching valley. The artist-couple’s striking, large-scale works harmonise with the surrounding landscape, the studio with its view over the plain and access to daylight a constant motivation to create further artistic works.
The “theatre’s” particular cultural function, location and organisation in a historical building and the identity of the new school building are central to the project.
“Contrasts attract each other”
The attempt, in the 19th century, to open up the old riding school, is reflected in the new school building. It is reused and adapted in a contemporary current way. This use of contrasts – with different technologies, construction methods, materials and energy technologies – is also expressed through the reflection of the old building on the façade of the new school. This effect is reversed as soon as it gets dark, when the school building illuminates the old studio.
