If they feel comfortable, they will talk to various businesses and bargain in order to get some delicious ingredients for the daily meals.

In this summer, Fon Studio was commissioned by the Breeze Market to design a traditional building in the Qianmen Xinglong District. The owners of market are the ones who love food and food market, the goal is not to duplicate the traditional market space, but to persue high-quality ingredients and food events and to create an interesting venue for local residents and visitors from all over the world.

China House Vision No. 8 Pavilion in Beijing, China by Crossboundaries

Monday, December 10th, 2018

Article source: Crossboundaries

Modern China is a place of continuously shifting socioeconomics. By 2020, more than 60% of the population will reside in urban areas – a dramatic increase from the 26% of 1990. This massive urbanization and densification puts tremendous pressure on both cities and citizens to adapt quickly. Soon the majority of people in China will live in mid- or high-rise residential towers, whose standardized layouts will become increasingly unaccommodating for the new nuclear family unit, digital nomad, or co-living / co-working community.

Chongwenmen M-Cube in Beijing, China by MVRDV

Tuesday, November 27th, 2018

Article source: MVRDV

Located just within Beijing’s innermost ring road, the KWG·M·CUBE is prominently located next to the Beijing Railway Station and near to both the Temple of Heaven to the Southwest, and Tiananmen and the Forbidden City to the Northwest. Given this prime location and the consequent value of the land, the client wanted a building that would stand out from its mostly beige and grey neighbours, while also packing a large amount of space into a relatively small footprint. Contradicting this request were the desires of the city government, whose preference was for a building that would fit in with its muted surroundings on the busy street.

Xiang Jiang House in Beijing, China by CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE

Friday, October 26th, 2018

Article source: CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE

Our idea was to create a contemporary Scandinavian interior in an existing house that must remain true to its regulated style on the exterior. Thus, the interior contemporary Scandinavian ambience is in contrast to the ”international-classical” exterior. With this contrast, the calm you meet when entering is unique: A completely ordinary house has been given an extraordinary interior.
