Like the Phoenix

This project started with a fire. A centuries old family home in the Netherlands burned down in one night. When your house and possessions disappear, you are left without the things that make up your history and identity. You are left without a home.

Though the fire was an undeniably negative experience for the clients, they saw it as an opportunity to finally have all the things the old house didn’t. They would get to start from scratch, and make the house of their dreams. It was our job to give focus on opportunities and all that positive energy, and in doing so make a new container for life.

Alliander HQ in Duiven, The Netherlands by RAU architects

The new head office for the energy grid company Alliander in Duiven (The Netherlands) was recently inaugurated. RAU architects is responsible for the renovation of the existing buildings and the extension (covering an area of 21.858 square-meters), which will house 1550 workers. This is the first renovation project in The Netherlands to obtain the BREEAM-NL outstanding sustainability certificate.

House W in Duiven, Netherlands by 01Arq

A charming small house, built last century, stands on the old village road of the Dutch town Duiven. It has recently been passed on to the third generation of a family that is living there. The decision was made by them to thoroughly renovate the house and add a new volume on the backside.

Huis van Droo in Duiven, The Netherlands by JDWA

Huis van Droo (lit. House of Droo) will be the heart of area Droo-Zuid, with a new gymnasium, the neighbourhood lounge, a child daycare centre and para-medic services. In December 2011 the building was finished and on January 2^nd 2012 put into operation. The festive opening by users and alderman was on March 30^th.
