The most recent location of the now world famous Nandos Restaurant Chain has opened on Parliament Street in Harrogate. As part of the development, Demax Stairs were approached by STAC Architects to provide a staircase which was a little ‘different’. Whilst the available space was restricted with walls on three sides, the staircase still needed to be eye catching and become a statement piece for both customers and staff alike. 3D Renders were produced of various designs to give an idea how to best utilise the space.
Maggie’s, the charity that provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends, has been granted planning permission to build a new Maggie’s Centre in the grounds of St James’s University Hospital in Leeds. The Centre has been designed by Heatherwick Studio, founded in 1994 by Thomas Heatherwick.
A three storey period terrace house in North London, appealed for a scheme that would open up views to the adjoining Parkland Walk conservation area.The focal point of the project is a pleated roof at the back of the house, which appears to be formed from a flat surface, forced to crinkle up into a faceted structure, as it is pushed up against the exterior wall. From the garden, the pleats are purposefully sunk from view, creating the impression of a simple flat roof, which allows the character of the original building to stand out.
Whitton Road is a recently completed refurbishment, rear extension and loft conversion to a two storey, end of terrace Victorian home in Twickenham. The design makes efficient use of the existing footprint of the house, rearranges spaces to suit modern family life, and refurbishes original spaces and features.
