Forrest Street Alterations & Additions in Fremantle, Australia by Philip Stejskal Architecture

Thursday, December 5th, 2019

Article source: Philip Stejskal Architecture

Our clients came to us with a typical Fremantle weatherboard cottage from the 1920, they wanted to remove the 1950s lean to structure and add a substantial renovation

In early design conversations with our clients they noted a difference in their personalities, one an introvert the other an extrovert. To Marty, home was a backdrop for entertaining and about being around friends and family. Whilst for Soo home was a sanctuary where she could find space and time for solitude and an escape from the corporate Monday to Friday environment. It also needed to fulfil their needs as a young family.

Blinco Street House in Australia by PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

Article source: PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

Our client was a single FIFO worker at the start of the project, who wanted a laid-back and robust sanctuary back home.

He would arrive by car from the airport after a month off-shore, and wanted the house to be instrumental in readjusting his mindset back into an on-shore, city-based existence for the ensuing month.

The home needed to allow a gradual adjustment. Nothing too abrupt. Connection with Fremantle, but also plenty of privacy and dimly lit space to enjoy solitude.

A place that was gentle on the senses, yet also engaging.

Parmelia Street House in Fremantle, Western Australia by PHILIP STEJSKAL ARCHITECTURE

Monday, September 25th, 2017

The project site sits on the corner of two quiet suburban streets in the beach-side suburb of South Fremantle. The area is characterised by single storey weatherboard workers’ cottages of the late 19th Century. Many have been restored, typically brought back to their original footprint of 2 rooms and a corridor, lean-to accretions of subsequent decades removed to make way for a new extension, which is a summary also of our project.

Irwin in Fremantle, Australia by MSG Architecture

Sunday, April 2nd, 2017

Article source: MSG Architecture

Irwin is a white box plugged in to an existing East Fremantle home.

The aim was to separate a breakout area and master bedroom to allow more room for kids and living in the existing house.

Simple materials, strategic windows and a transition space between old and new make this little add on perform well beyond it’s modest footprint.

59 BELLEVUE TERRACE in FREMANTLE, Australia by Philip Stejskal Architecture

Thursday, February 5th, 2015

Article source: Philip Stejskal Architecture

Our project consists of alterations and additions to an existing 1890’s duplex cottage on Bellevue Terrace in Fremantle.

The briefed starting point for our intervention was to improve the relationship between internal and external spaces that previously suffered on account of a 1.5m level variance and the inconvenient location of an existing bathroom.
