Wednesday, August 7th, 2019

Article source: Thought parallels architecture

Driving through winding narrow roads in Malapuram district in Kerala, brings us to the site overlooking lush rubber plantation, which is abundantly grown in and around gradual slopes, camouflaging the house from plain view.

Spread over an acre of land is the house which has a modern tropical design amalgamated with traditional architecture. The design of the house utilizes the extents of the plot exceedingly well by having a spread out planning. The Design accommodates the brief of the Family which was to create distinctive guest and family spaces. This clearly leads to the formation of two blocks a guest and family.

MD Apartment in Ahmedabad, India by Studio Saransh

Sunday, July 21st, 2019

Article source: Studio Saransh

MD Apartment, located centrally in Ahmedabad, is the house of a designer, designed to meet his specific requirements. Originally a two bedroom apartment, it has been converted into a Studio.

Stripping the space bare was the first stage of design. This meant removing all the partition walls, existing toilets, the kitchen and even the flooring. There was a conscious decision of making a space that was minimal and at the same time, tactile. So a majority of the materials chosen were done so based on how well they age.

Art House in New Delhi, India by Morphogenesis

Friday, July 19th, 2019

Article source: Morphogenesis

The Art House was designed in close consultation with the clients who are great patrons of art and wanted the house to be a backdrop for their art collection. The site is located in the Lutyen’s Bungalow Zone in New Delhi, with considerable site restrictions. Hence, the site planning and layout proved to be a challenge.

The residence is developed on basis of two curved planes enclosing a large green space with bigger rectilinear blocks offsetting the curved lines. Keeping the initial client brief in mind, the surface treatment of the façade is predominantly with glass to facilitate transparency and visual integration of the outside greenery with the inside spaces. This enhances the view towards the artwork on clear, large walls that are lit effectively from the outside. The glass walls also help to underline the depth of the house with the amount of daylight flowing inside through the skin. The entry foyer on the ground floor opens into a courtyard consisting of a backlit installation wall to showcase artifacts and a transparent vista runs across the house with a shallow water body to display various artistic sculptures. The living room is minimalistic in design with a customized wood wall equipping the bar with hints of foliage imparting an ecological backdrop in all the common areas. The house encompasses both indoor and outdoor dining with a private garden and an outdoor swimming pool which faces the north.

Article source: UNStudio

According to economists, we are currently living in the ‘Indian Century’, and Bangalore – with its moniker as the Silicon Valley of India, due to the large number of information technology companies based in the city – finds itself at the epicenter of this rapid growth.

Within this thriving Tech Hub, UNStudio has designed the new Karle Town Centre (KTC), while UNSense – the arch tech company founded by UNStudio – is collaborating with Karle Infra to curate the use of sensorial technologies throughout the masterplan. KTC is a development that aims to define Bangalore locally and inspire the whole of India to ‘lead by example’ when designing future urban destinations.

Karle Town Centre, which is currently under construction, enjoys a direct connection to the city’s ring road arterial and expanding metro lines. It is positioned prominently next to the established Manyata Tech Park with scenic views over Nagavara Lake and is designed to act as a natural magnet for people and activities in the urban panorama.

Prabhu Premi Sangh Camp at Kumbh Mela 2019 in Prayagraj, India by Studio Saransh

Thursday, June 6th, 2019

Article source: Studio Saransh

The Kumbh Mela camp designs are conceptually rooted in Indian tradition. For the Kumbh 2019, the focus was on using rich, decorative carvings and paintings, typically found in traditional towns of Madhya Pradesh. As a reflection of the vision of the Spiritual Head of the organization, the camp was conceived like a traditional Indian fortress, which would typically have within, a Palace, a Temple, a Yagyashala, Dining Halls and Kitchens, and houses to accommodate permanent residents as well as visitors. A person would experience the grandeur of the largest camp of the Kumbh Mela by entering through a 52 ft high entrance gate in a 913 ft long wall with the look of a fortress.
