IHA Residence in Kerala, India by Wallmakers

Friday, May 31st, 2019

Article source: Wallmakers

The Client Mrs. Tara Pillai and Mr. Sreekumar, based in Delhi wanted an eco-friendly abode that also retains the peace and quiet in the busy city of Trivandrum.

The residence depicts an atmosphere that is an oxymoron in nature – Serene and warm, with minimalistic decors, at the same time adventurous and wild in design.

The site was on a low-lying terrain with issues of water-logging, which was the primary obstacle we had to tackle. The primary idea was to ensure that the building wasn’t creating a hindrance in the flow of water. Being in a state like Kerala, where rains are frequent, we had to ensure that the water percolates into the ground and that it could be harvested. We had to come up with an alternative and sustainable solution which could also enhance the spatial quality- a pond in the lowest point of the site so that water is retained in the site as well as, adding to the veristic vibe of the residence.

Article source: VYOM

As India’s financial headquarters, the Rajaswa Bhawan, or the National Tax Headquarters proposed at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in the heart of the capital New Delhi, represents the morals affiliated with the country’s economic aspirations.

With its history dating back to more than a thousand years, Delhi has been witnessing a continuous change in its architectural identity, owing to the shift in the central administrative power. The amalgamation of the two predominant styles seen across the city, forms the basis for Indo Saracenic architecture. Used extensively by the British, this revival style defines public and government buildings, including palaces of the princely states built during the nineteenth century. With the site located in the vicinity of buildings such as Rasthrapati Bhawan, Hyderabad House and the Jaipur column, the design of the Rajaswa Bhawan has been directly influenced by Indo-Saracenic architecture.

The combination of wood, steel, glass and greens come together in this contemporary expression of a residence in the tropical climate of Kolkata. This model home is a standalone version of typical apartments that are to come up as part of a 40-storeyed tower. This is capped by a rooftop lounge and terrace created to enjoy panoramic views across the site.

The Aurus Home is designed to be, currently, a mockup for a 4-bedroom apartment with a double height living-dining space and a large balcony. The bedrooms are planned to be meeting rooms and audio visual facilities until they are converted into a home for its end user. Meanwhile, the rooftop terrace overlooks the construction of the tower.

Friday, April 12th, 2019

Article source: ORA Design Studio

The challenge was to design a 2000sq ft space inside the clients manufacturing unit in Bangalores industrial area, that would aesthetically highlight their manufactured product apparel shirts. The facility created had to cater to clients and their guest who would spend long hours in the facility selecting apparels and signing business deals. They needed a conceptual design that would break the monotonous liner design of the factory unit and make the inhabitants feel like they were transcended into another domain and not the manufacturing unit that they had entered.

Chhavi House in Jodhpur, India by Abraham John Architects

Friday, April 12th, 2019

Article source: Abraham John Architects

The challenge of designing a residential villa in Jodhpur was trifold: extreme climate, small footprint and a large project brief. The house also needed to be and is Vastu compliant – conforming with the ancient Indian design principles regarding space, sunlight, flow and function.

The plot was a restricted one within a society scheme, encumbered by the existing adjoining buildings along its compound walls on two sides, and two roads along its north and east sides. Hence, there was a need to create privacy, through orientation of the views, screens and courtyards, as well as through landscape design. The little gardens, decks, waterbodies, sculpture court, sky lit balconies and terrace gardens were all designed to enhance its spatial feel.

Boston Bites in Mohali, India by Studio Ardete

Thursday, April 4th, 2019

Article source: Studio Ardete

Exploring the urbanity of the tri-city through an interesting amalgamation, BOSTON BITES is an urban café in Mohali, Punjab which delves into a notion of sensuality through an appropriation of space and context. The industrialized aesthetic magnifies the volumetric tonality. The details are exposed to the fore-front which radiate an over-arching exposition- a symbiosis of space and story which becomes an alluring supposition of the construct. This eliminates the sole physical aspects of a space which now becomes a subtle presence.

Tata Consultancy Services’ new software development campus encompasses 2.1 million SF of space housing more than 16,000 employees.
