Green Water Sports Station in Upper Silesia, Poland by KUCZIA architect

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014

Article source: KUCZIA architect

Like a traditional polish farm, the GREEN WATER SPORTS STATION blends into the rural landscape of the shores of Lake Laka in Upper Silesia (Poland).

Three main buildings of the complex – situated orthogonal to each other – define a public place. This place comes into being on the same way like it occurs in the typical polish manor between the cottage, stable and barn. And analogical to them, every building of the Station has a different function: the boat hangar in the east, the central visitors building on the waterfront and the restrooms with showers westward.

MONUMENTAL MODERNITY in WARSAW, POLAND by FAAB Architektura

Tuesday, May 20th, 2014

Article source: FAAB Architektura

The design was determined by the pursuit of two main goals. One was the creation of a space which, thanks to the means of architectural expression, would bring out the gravity of the central government office as well as create an impression of the government’s openness and accessibility to citizens. The other was the durability of the project in terms of utilization and aesthetics, especially taking into account that the project was to be paid for with public funds.

JET OFFICE in Poznań, Poland by PRACOWNIA ARCHITEKTONICZNA INSOMIA

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014

Article source: PRACOWNIA ARCHITEKTONICZNA INSOMIA

The main reason for the extraordinary shape of the building was a narrow and triangular plot. Such a dynamic shape ought to be, in our opinion emphasized by a matching dynamic form. The plot is a wedge between two busy streets: Piątkowska st. &  Aleje Solidarności st. and a tramway line. Paradoxically, vast  number of limitations and prescriptions made the design process much easier. The parallels about the building looking like a vessel are funny on one hand, but quite accurate on the other. The form had to be “sharpen” giving the outcome of marine analogies. JET OFFICE is a shape and form, not a decoration.

In Izabelin Północny near Warsaw, at Białego Orła street, a villa of shingles and gabions was built to a design by Barycz and Saramowicz Architectural Office. This imposing, luxurious residence is contrarily called A Little House in the Forest, with reference to a playful name of the pre-war villa of the great Polish writer, Melchior Wańkowicz, located in Żoliborz in Warsaw (“The Tiny House”), as it is located on a beautiful plot of land, covered with old pine trees.

The Concrete and Cedar Lath Villa was designed by Barycz & Saramowicz Design Office and was built in Cracow, Poland, at Jabloniowa Street.

The Villa was composed of two interpenetrating blocks. One is a traditional form in a modern setting with the archetypal gable-roofed house shape which is deeply rooted in the collective consciousness. The other is a modernistic flat annex.

Cultural Center in Katowice, Poland by PA+U Rafał Mazur

Tuesday, March 18th, 2014

Article source: PA+U Rafał Mazur

The cultural center is located in the Dab district of Katowice in Poland –  an area known for mines and industry. The concept of the building links two  important aspects of the site. A green space connection is made from the  northern end traditional Silesian street to the southern border. The edge  between the building and green space is invisible. The roof in the plan of a  ‘Z’ shape rises from the ground level to two floors. The sectional form is  inspired by mines, as all of the programmatic utilities are located  ‘underground’. The building at the street level is integrated to promote  urban interaction.

Standard House in Pszczyna, Poland by KWK PROMES

Saturday, March 1st, 2014

Article source: KWK PROMES

The project arose in untypical conditions: it was supposed to be built in two different places – near Pszczyna and in the outskirts of Berlin. As the second location was still to be chosen, the main goal became to design a house that fits every plot. This is how the idea of standard hOuse emerged, first such an attempt in the KWK Promes history. Round shape of the house makes it easily suitable to any given shape of the site, freedom in the choice of a roof type makes it universal in terms of landscape conditionings, while flexibility of interior plan adopts it to needs of an individual family.
