1 LOCATION

The FLAMINGO house was designed on a plot of land located near the historic centre of Żory- Silesian town in central Poland. On the eastern side, it borders on local street on the other side on city’s recreational and park areas.

The plot has a unique shape of terrain. It’s highest part runs along the southern border of the plot and significantly descends to the north along the road and to the north-west, creating a depression there. The difference in height across the plot is approx. 5 m.

Idea

Żorro was inspired by the basic principle of creating architecture, i.e. improving the functional, aesthetic and spatial standards found in a given place and context for future residents. Situated in the vicinity of the housing estate of prefabricated buildings, it is shaped by applying the principle of modifying the cubature of a typical building from that time and giving it uniqueness and architectural features of a “superhero” in its location that differs in quality and standard from the surroundings, creating a new model for further transformation district and this part of the city.

Kindergarten in Żory, Poland by Biuro Toprojekt

Article source: Biuro Toprojekt

Pre-school education is one of the most important stages in human development, so we should carefully care for the quality of space in which this process takes place. Children cannot be underestimated and serve only colored interiors. A child is a serious, sensitive recipient who puts the highest demands on the designer.

A five-branch kindergarten was established in the center of Kleszczówka district in the suburbs of Żory. The immediate environment is dominated by chaotic single-family buildings. A little further you can meet small clusters of four blocks. In this environment, the kindergarten is the space and new quality.
