The single-family home is a project set up as a review of the traditional country house, where living spaces are small, and the spaces such as stables, barns and porches were a much bigger proportion as this was needed and was an essential element for the family.
In this project the vast empty spaces of the old farmhouse is reinterpreted in a modern way. The porch, was a feature of protection from the sun and weather and to filter access to the stables and the barn.
Its large size of 5.5 x2.7 mallow a perfect radiation into the living area all year round.
The window allows the room to capture a greater number of sunlight during the winter, around the 22nd -23rd December, the day of the winter solstice.
The kitchen is located in the northern part of the house so during the winter, the ray of the sun will also be able to reach this space, although the kitchen is located far north from the window.
During the summer, around the 21st June, the day of the summer solstice, the horizontal shelter in front of the house sits at1.50 m depth which will protect kitchen, dining room and living room from the direct rays of the sun.
The internal layout of the building is configured with the living area on the ground floor and the bedrooms on the first floor and a large room overlooking the terrace-solarium on the second floor.
The stairs are connected from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor located on the west side of the house where there is a blank wall. The dimension of the second stair level is much smaller where the window sits. The window is placed on the terrace, where the space can be nicely filtered by light between the second and the ground floor.
The living area includes wooden floors beams and on there are also wooden beams on the ceiling, the beams are arranged close to each other.
All the windows and doors on the east side of the building gives you a great outlook of the garden and a perfect view between indoor and outdoor environment.
The dinning table is a great feature in the kitchen area, it is permanently fixed to the area, it is a concrete dining table, which continues to the outside also becoming fixed table there and so is the connection point with the virtual indoor dining area and the kitchen island.
The large double height space of the living area, gives brightness to the whole house, and acts as a liaison with the upper floor, which overlook a bedroom and study. On the first floor there are also other bedrooms wooden floors, industrial and bathrooms, paved with concrete Brushed Quartz.
The second floor is characterized by the large south-facing terrace, which overlooks the room which serves as a relaxation area, private for the exclusive use of the family.
As already explained, on the south side it was decided to set up a single large opening crowned by a roof, with the desire to preserve the intimacy and domestic tranquility from the hustle and bustle from the prying eyes of the outside world.
The windows are arranged in a seemingly random pattern but with a clear taste of modernity.
On the east side you have entered all the openings of the living area and the sleeping area to enhance the views of the garden and build a relationship of continuity with nature.
On the north side were placed equipment and service rooms, while the west side has been left blind to the vicinity of the building adjacent.
