In the summer of 2012, we were invited by Vanke Group to design their exhibition centre in a seashore park at Bayuquan, Yingkou, China. We tried to explore 2 kinds of relationship within the design – the relationship between space and the scenery, and the relationship between public and private.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo presented a summer exhibition for children entitled GHOSTS, UNDERPANTS and STARS for which we designed a Haunted house.
The concept of this exhibition invites young visitors to consider the paradox of the rules of the museum, such as ‘Don’t Run’, ‘Don’t Touch’ or ‘Keep Quiet’ by allowing behavior normally forbidden in museums.
For the design of this apartment, located west of México City, the most important was to find the appropriate design language to balance the contemporary space with the classic furniture. For this a finishes palette and sober and elegant colors were selected to allow the styles fusion. In addition state-of-the-art technology for the light, audio and video control was installed and custom design and made special spaces for the works of art.
The site for this home was a narrow lot in a downtown neighborhood, which carried with it extensive code limitations on side windows. A further challenge was negotiating the difference in grade between the two neighbouring lots:an already steeply sloping site, the neighbours to the West raised their rear yard an additional 1.5m, ultimately creating a difference in neighbouring lot heights of approximately 2.5m
The Temporary Andy Warhol Museum is a cultural space within a commercial space. It was designed to host the exhibition Andy Warhol Icons | Psaier Artworks and the Factory’, which was opened between April 11 and July 11, in Colombo Shopping Mall, in Lisbon, and included a total of 32 original works by the American artist.
The design of the house developed in direct response to the site and its location within the beautiful village of Yalding in Kent. The building’s structure is composed to reflect the surrounding woodland with the raking columns representing the irregular angles of tree trunks and branches. Large expanses of glass fill the gaps between the structure and allow you to appreciate the landscape and setting as if you were peering out from between the trunks and branches of the trees.
Located near the railway station in the centre of Wels, although different in function and appearance, it relates to its context in scale and volume, as well as in its position and relation to the district and street. Old and new building structures complement each other and react in shape and context in a dialogue with the urban structure. The new building adapts itself in the space restricted by the predefined structures, reacts to existing building lines and defines with the Aktiv Energy Tower a new qualified urban corner at Bahnhofstrasse.
The competition sought a new identity for the “Alvenaria” neighbourhood in Lisbon. After many years of indifference, a single intervention was required to resolve the whole site while bringing it back to the present.
The proposal did not intend to encompass all the volumes in a static solution. A module was defined, a cube of 2.55m, and the variations and multiplications allowed the dwellings to develop iteratively.
Fray León building is a small set of 9 apartments located in the area of San Damián, in the commune of Las Condes, in Santiago de Chile. The architectural proposal consists of breaking a body into small fragments that generate unique and identifiable volumes, without repetition and almost without modulation. We work in a way to generate identity and a sense belonging. Each apartment has its own particularity and characteristics.
The collection “XII” will consist of 12 thematic interior designs, together with furniture and fittings, which in each part will be interconnected, not only in terms of style, but also by name. Each subsequent design will be created within one month, and the entire collection will take one year to create.
Here, visualization is to constitute more than a design, which is thrown away after implementation of the interior design, but mainly an image, which has a deeper meaning and can function individually, for instance as a print on a wall, or even a CD cover.
