Hawkins\Brown, Mae, and Grant Associates have been appointed by London Borough of Camden to develop proposals in collaboration with residents for the potential redevelopment of the Agar Grove Estate, a major housing regeneration project for London with an estimated construction value of £55 million.
This project is natural white freshwater shell mother of pearl with an iridescent shell in the centre and around the edges of each tile.
Freshwater mother of pearl is farmed responsibly by ShellShock Designs on the banks of the Poyang Lake, China’s largest freshwater lake. From here our skilled team of artisan farmers cultivate the Mother of Pearl producing up to 75,000 sq metres per year.
This two family house presents a traditional local row house scheme, introvert on the street and open on the back garden. The central rooms, living and dining areas, suffered great lack of light, due to their distance from the two facades.
The ground floor rooms presented existing vaulted ceilings, very valuable for their architecture and space effect. This scheme imposed the preservation of the enfilade of vaulted spaces, yet needing a strategy to avoid the box in box effect and extend multiple internal flows and views.
Underneath a rampant of a fortified wall, lie the remnants of the once large complex of fortifications of Ypres, called “Kazematten”.
Built in 1680 by a mythical French Marshal as part of a large fortification project of Ypres, the “Kazematten” are known for their rich history. Following the independence of Belgium the fortification complex was mostly demolished to allow de city to expand.The “Kazematten” were spared this fate due to lack of funds.

The project for the redesign of Croda offices – an international company specialized in the production of chemical products with natural origins – was an interesting process in which architects Gabriel Salazar and Fernando Castañón were involved with the client to change, not only the space, but the way they work. Important modifications had to be done in the same space to generate a new environment.
It may have become fewer these days, but many people still have experiences of eating or relaxing with families beneath a tree, or climbing trees to find their own space to play.
It is just a metaphor, but the desirable place for a family to gather and spend time may be somewhere like beneath a tree, laid-back, with moderate sunshine and comfortable breeze.
Belo Horizonte. A modernist building in a modernist landscape.
Mineirão Stadium and Pampulha neighborhood were conceived during the 40´s, at the beginning of the structuralist fever that would conduct the economic policies of Brazil during the following decades. Not by coincidence, Pampulha´s mentor was Juscelino Kubitschek, then mayor of the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, who granted commissions to vanguard professionals such as young Oscar Niemeyer and Roberto Burle Marx to capture the essence of his modern envisions. Quite a successful essay for his Brasilia from 1960.
The project was submitted to the invited competition opened by the Municipality of Beyoglu to replace their existing building on Istiklal Avenue.
1st basement and ground floor were planned as an art gallery, whereas each of the upper floors were solved as different units of the municipality. The roof floor was allocated to the mayor’s spaces.
The Hive is Europe’s first joint university and public library – a unique academic, educational and learning centre for the City of Worcester and its University. The ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ project was designed by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios with a distinctive and sustainable landscape design by Grant Associates.
