Castello 4 in Hong Kong, China by Millimeter Interior Design Limited

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

Article source: Millimeter Interior Design Limited

Castello 4 is a restaurant/bar located in the heart of Hong Kong with a total area of 2,200 square feet. Serving fine Italian cuisine and high quality alcoholic beverages, this edgy, yet sophisticated restaurant/bar makes a perfect hang out spot in Hong Kong. Given the fact that Castello 4 is located inside a commercial building, there needs to be a way to attract guests and maximize covers for its owners. The designer decided to create an astounding visual impact the moment elevator doors open in order to attract potential customers.

Extension Of Orientation School in Kerzers, Switzerland by Morscher Architekten BSA SIA AG

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

Article source:  Morscher  Architekten BSA SIA AG

The school’s extension responds clearly and confidently to the large neighbouring buildings. A new entrance gives onto a spacious multi-storey hall. The group rooms are stacked one atop the other and can be read as simple boxes in the airspace, resulting in interesting sightlines. The administrative and special use rooms are located on both the lower level and ground floor, while the upper storeys hold the classrooms. The building is constructed of natural, robust materials that already have a lovely patina and are able to withstand a high degree of wear. The façade and some corridor areas are made of concrete. The classroom walls are lined with acoustic panels that double as bulletin boards. The ceiling has been left raw and can be used for heat storage. With this extension of the school’s classroom tract, a compact building has been created with short routes and an interesting central area suitable for a variety of uses.

Nadja in Athens, Greece by Point Supreme Architects

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

Article source: Point Supreme Architects

Nadja consists of two apartments on subsequent floors that were renovated and connected with a stair in the middle. The two levels are materialized as opposite spatial experiences. The lower level is a continuous, marine-like environment with big pieces of furniture anchoring the family’s communal activities like floating islands. Instead of the typical division of rooms for kitchen, dining, living and playing, spaces in Nadja are flexible and look towards each other.

Preserving the essence of its sister house in Polanco, Reforma Bellopuerto integrates in its terrace the experience of the Port of Acapulco.Within premises with different heights, we insert the island bar as a leading element of the restaurant; the double height of the hall enables natural light into the interior, which in turn is replaced by luminaries on rails at different heights.

The site is in a semirural area on the outskirts of Victoria and immediately north of a Garry oak woodland, a rare and delicate ecosystem unique to the region. The design of the school is inspired by the environmental knowledge embedded in the vernacular language of rural buildings; like such buildings, the structure aspires to give architectural form to natural forces.
