Article source: Alejandro Soffia / Architect

In 1953 Le Corbusier wrote a letter to the Chilean Architects, and was sent through Emilio Duhart, a very important Chilean Architect that was drawing for him the buildings that he was doing in that moment in India. In this letter he emphasize the need on taking care of people while developing a design process. He said that “in that moment academic ideas where left behind, and the smallest measurements, the shorter distances or the smallest built spaces, become precious as a glass of water in the desert”.

Article source: Wingårdhs

I’ve been wanting to design this house for a long time. The obvious design, with a series of rooms arranged along a line. My client wanted to be sure that it was possible to construct a good house on the site before he went ahead and bought it. This meant that time was critical one autumn day in 2003.

HIPARK HOTEL in Paris, France by Manuelle Gautrand Architecture

Friday, July 1st, 2016

Article source: Manuelle Gautrand Architecture

This 125-room 4-star apartment hotel on Boulevard Indochine is part of a larger development of offices, a student residence, etc. called Visalto. The hotel forms the \”prow\” of this ensemble, facing the Philharmonie de Paris. Its tapering form is the result of the very narrow site, which runs alongside the périphérique ringroad. The facades create a kinetic gradation of colours, from green – the colour of the leaves of the boulevard’s trees, to the white of the Parisian sky.

OA Kindergarten in Saitama, Japan by HIBINOSEKKEI + Youji no Shiro

Friday, July 1st, 2016

Article source: HIBINOSEKKEI + Youji no Shiro

As building of kindergarten that welcomes 50th anniversary has not been earthquake resistant sufficiently, an urgent measure was required.

We decided that our main theme is to tell the children “fossil fuel and to use what they can use carefully” from two viewpoints of urgency caused as a result of lack of the earthquake resistance and educational element of the kindergarten, and not by using an approach where a new building is constructed usually but by constructing using a marine container, reinforcing the earthquake resistance by using the existing structure and renovating, we realized a construction in short period, suggested to a sustainable society, reduced large volume of carbon dioxide as well as created an ecological and educational environment for the children.
