Akachōchin in New Delhi, India by Studio Dangg

Monday, January 23rd, 2023

Article source: Studio Dangg

An unorthodox retreat nestled in a newly rediscovered and revamped urban market space. Aesthetics splashed with Pan Asian flavours, firmly rooted in the idea of bringing the vigour of izakayas to the heart of the country’s bustling capital. Akachōchin is Studio Dangg’s eccentric endeavour to capture the essence of Japan’s age-old street bars, and curate a space conducive to casual conversations and mirth over endless courses of food and drinks.

Monday, January 23rd, 2023

Article source: Aedas

Strategically located in the heart of the Pearl River Delta in the vicinity of Hong Kong and Macau, Zhuhai is fast becoming the Delta region’s infrastructural capital. The Xiangzhou North Industrial Zone once fueled Zhuhai’s rapid development in the 1990s. Now, it is undergoing a transformation that sees it converting into a high-tech industrial-city complex. The project’s design is inspired by the striking rock formations that sit along the Zhuhai coast. For thousands of years, they have proudly looked down on the bay and are known locally as “auspicious stones”.

Villa DLM in Venice, Italy by depaolidefranceschibaldan architetti

Friday, January 20th, 2023

Article source: depaolidefranceschibaldan architetti

Villa DLM is part of a small site in a residential neighbourhood. It is a rational and introverted house, whose apparent privacy dissolves in the internal courtyard towards the garden.

The project idea is the composition of three simple volumes, which modulates the spaces of domestic life and establishes direct connections between the parts. Two parallelepipeds are arranged perpendicular to each other to form an L open towards the garden, the third stands on top of the previous ones maintaining its formal autonomy.

Bay Window Tower House in Tokyo, Japan by tyfa/ Takaaki Fuji + Yuko Fuji Architecture

Friday, January 20th, 2023

Article source: tyfa/ Takaaki Fuji + Yuko Fuji Architecture

We designed our own residence and office on a narrow lot in the heart of the city where old and new streets are mixed together. Since it is in front of a train station and has the potential to be used for a variety of purposes, we thought we should create a place whereabouts rather than a house. It is a comfortable place to live that will continue to exist even after it leaves our hands and changes its use and owner.

As a method of creating a place to live, we did not construct the space itself, but tried to consciously embody each of the casual behaviors of people and make the space stand up. The form used in this project was the bay window.

Thursday, January 19th, 2023

Article source: ds_A architettura – Dario Scanavacca architetto

The building brings together the three brands of the company Manifattura Valcismon S.p.A. – Sportful, Castelli, Karpos – in a single commercial space of 1,500 square meters of covered area located a few steps from the group’s historical headquarters.

The building is spread over an area of 8,700 square meters on a single above-ground level with an irregularly shaped floor plan, where a secondary volume is grafted to the main building. The main volume is articulated in six irregular pitches with different slopes and inclinations intended to recall the skyline of the surrounding pre-Alpine peaks while the secondary volume, of more modest impact, is concluded by a flat roof.

Qatar Airways UK Headquarters in London by PLP Architecture

Thursday, January 19th, 2023

Article source: PLP Architecture

Qatar Airways’ UK Headquarters thoughtfully reconsiders a key urban site in Central London, reinterpreting the architecture of the surrounding neighbourhood and marrying it with vernacular Qatari elements to create an emblematic building that bridges locations and cultures. The six story headquarters sits adjacent to a Grade II* listed James Wyatt building on Conduit Street in Mayfair and replaces two outdated structures that were inconsistent with the character of the local Conservation Area.
