Coroco 5 in Mexico City, Mexico by Miguel Montor arquitecto

Tuesday, November 6th, 2018

Article source: Miguel Montor arquitecto

After several years of being located in San Ángel, a neighborhood south of Mexico City, and after our first six years as an independent architecture firm, the opportunity to change our workshop’s location emerges.

Our needs regarding space and location began to change: that which began as a nearly individual studio began to shift gradually towards a collective space, where a team of several architects take part in our daily tasks.

Floating Leaf House in Tamarindo, Costa Rica by LSD (Laboratory Sustaining Design)

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: LSD (Laboratory Sustaining Design)

Los jobos is a new and quite neighborhood at the south area of playa tamarindo community. This area is located in the ‘green corridor’ that connects tamarindo and langosta estuaries with the forests and mountains that surround tamarindo. This corridor is used by animals to come down from the mountains and have access to the water of the of the estuaries during the dry season. The property that is surround by a beautiful forest and it has a stepped slope next to the access leaving 100% of the property under the street level. Because of this, our client asked us to lift up part of the program trying to reach the views and also share a great connection with the canopies of the trees that surround the property. Social and services areas, the studio and the master bedroom which is the 70% of the program are at the top floor of the house and only one bedroom with the laundry are at the ground level and they both work as the based of the top floor which is cantilevered by 70%. A parabolic roof gives shade to the open social areas/terrace that helps the house to integrate with the exterior. A concrete roof slabs is on top of the interior areas and this will be used as a terrace that has great views.

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: Febrero Studio

Febrero Studio has designed Qualitas Equity Partners offices located in the Salamanca district of Madrid, Spain.

The office occupies a complete floor of a building in a busy corner in Barrio de Salamanca, one of Madrid´s best neighborhoods.

We wanted to bring natural light throughout the space. We decided to bring the individual office boxes and meeting rooms towards the façade and enclose them using only a very light iron and glass wall. The open office spaces are located at the end of each building wing.

Salon L’OCCOCO in Jalisco, México by COTAPAREDES Arquitectos

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: COTAPAREDES Arquitectos

Located in the city of Guadalajara Jalisco this project meant our incursion into the commercial genre.

The client commissioned us to redesign the brand of beauty salons L’OCCOCÓ, one of the largest franchises of beauty salons in Mexico. They wanted to reflect an image of elegance with the necessary character so that the clients felt identified with the brand.

The exercise began by analyzing the existing salons, understanding the dynamics of use, the furniture necessary for the performance of salon activities, the flows of customers and staff and the optimal spaces to work freely. Our language had to simplify the current, to purify it, we had to identify the indispensable and readjust what could be adapted in another way.

Primary School in Loiano, Italy by Studio Contini

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: Studio Contini

The new primary school in Loiano was completed and tested in 12 months in respect of the times and amounts of contract and without reservation by the enterprise and public administration.

As an established tradition of the study, the search for a harmonious relationship with the geographical context and the well-being of future users drove the design and subsequent implementation.

The volumes of the school building, located in an area of scenic interest at the Bologna Apennines, were partly buried to limit the visual impact upstream, thus to obtain two distinct levels for classes and workshops, both with free rein to the spacious green areas.

New concrete house in Caviano, Schwitzerland by wespi de meuron romeo architetti fas sa

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: wespi de meuron romeo architetti fas sa

The house, designed as a residence for a family of three persons, was built in the immediate proximity of the architecture office in Caviano on the Lake Maggiore.

In terms of adequate architectural densification new living space should be created on a remaining area of just 128 m2, on the same plot as the architecture office was built in 1981, without damaging the existing qualities. On the contrary, an enrichment of the outer spatial situation should be generated with reasonable densification in context with the existing building.

Delft City Hall and Train Station in Netherlands by mecanoo architecten

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: mecanoo architecten

Arriving in Delft is an unforgettable experience. From the outset, Mecanoo’s idea was to design a station that makes it clear to visitors that they have arrived in Delft. The station, in combination with the new city hall, sits atop a new train tunnel built in place of the old concrete viaduct that divided the city in two since 1965. Coming up the escalators, the impressive ceiling with the historic map of Delft unfolds. When you look outside, you see the city and the old station as a contemporary version of Johannes Vermeer’s painting ‘View of Delft’.
