The particular urban base of Vila Madalena neighborhood in São Paulo defined the project created by Triptyque Architecture: a residential complex built in Arapiraca Street. The integration with its context – a neighborhood of old houses, close to bars and restaurants – was the main objective of Triptyque’s architects, in order to make a natural dialogue between the 8000m2 volume of construction and its relief.

Kant K in Kyoto, Japan by koyori DATT

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

Article source: koyori DATT

A residential complex located in Muko city, Kyoto. The building is facing to a historical street. The location is mixed with historic sites and countryside sceneries as well as the modern shops and apartments, making the area rather unarranged. Thus, we aimed not just to meet the requirements as a preferable rent but also aimed to make the architecture have positive effects to the townscape when to design this apartment.

Canto Cholul House in Yucatán, México by Taller Estilo Arquitectura

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

Article source: Taller Estilo Arquitectura

“Humans should not try to conquer nature with technology, they should create architecture that is blessed by nature” Toyo Ito

Immersed in a 2300 square meter plot containing around 60 trees is Casa Canto Cholul, a project that seeks to create a dynamic, spatial and formal coexistence between nature and architecture. Curved walls made with stone from the region and pigmented cement embrace the trees as if trying to fit in, these being the ones that give a welcome into the house; paths between trees and shadows direct to the main entrance of the building.

Perched House in Melbourne, Australia by Rara Architecture

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

Article source: Rara Architecture

Perched House is a light extension at the rear of an inner city semi-detached Edwardian house that sweeps over your head.

The brief and site are common in inner-city Melbourne properties. Usually, because of the need to pack in as much space and storage as possible, the spaces are susceptible to becoming dark and feeling cramped. We decided to stick to the essentials and neatening up the layout to reduce dead space while playing with natural light to increase the drama and the effect – the space is in fact quite small, but no one would think so.
