White Apartment in Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic by Next Level Studio

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

Article source: Next Level Studio

Over three years lasting reconstruction of the 3+1 apartment in Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic appealed an endless process of thoughts and construction operations, which finally filled the visions. Every line on a sketch, every statement in a computer programme, as well as every single building block, was considered as crucial everything influencing steps. The most difficult task for an architect – is designing for himself. How to recognize reserves in the design, how to set the limits behind which he doesn’t need to go though the possibilities are finally almost limitless? The design was treated as the opportunity to try out certain procedures, materials and technologies. I am interested in monochrome space, where light can be experimented. White itself has many shades, tones, and valeurs. During the day, the Sun warms the interior with light of 2000 – 3500K. While the artificial evening light set on 4200K, cools the space. Artificial light casts varied shadows, highlights different elements and the interior transmutes. Colour RGB LED strips; hidden in the niches of the furniture, enable dynamic coloration of the space. They can “paint” the space in accordance with the current wishes.

Living under the roof in Lvry-sur-Seine, France by Prisca Pellerin Architecture & Intérieur

Sunday, May 1st, 2016

Article source: Prisca Pellerin Architecture & Intérieur

Presentation

This project is a complete renovation of an apartment 2-room attic. To enhance the quality of light of that “cocoon” housing, the bias has been to open up the spaces (decompartmentalisation, amplified perspectives, transparency of Parisian artist window frame… ) and playing on different shades of white and grey, specially thanks to different textures : glossy lacquer, matt and satin paint, polished concrete, leather and suede, linen, brick , white wood stain…

Ljubljana apartment in Slovenia by SoNo arhitekti

Friday, April 29th, 2016

Article source: SoNo arhitekti

This older larger apartment is located in the city center of Ljubljana. The client’s wish was to transform an existing residential space into an open, modern and at the same time a comfortable and a functional home. We have created a central living area where the furniture elements, despite their uniform appearance form two distinct ambiances, but also connect to the smaller intimate atrium. Along the main dividing wall the kitchen elements are located and they subtly convert into the fireplace that sensibly rounds up the entire residential space. Playfully arranged furniture elements which are otherwise clean simple geometric shapes achieve a more sensible integration of the existing walls as well as a more reasonable organization of the space itself. Smaller cramped rooms now are logically linked and more spacious and thus create a better feeling of living.

AB apartment in Milan, Italy by DUEDIQUATTRO

Thursday, April 28th, 2016

Article source: DUEDIQUATTRO

The apartment, located inside a charming early 20th-century building, was completely redesigned in order to better respond to the occupants’ needs, without altering its « retro appeal ». The project therefore mixes a vintage decor with contemporary furniture and 20th century design pieces. The kitchen furniture and the cupboards were custom-designed. The beautiful original windows and wooden floor were kept and restored; in the bathrooms and in the kitchen, instead, the floor and wall tiles, which had been previusly replaced, were changed. In the living room, the elaborated coffered ceiling was restored and repainted; the walls were painted dark green, a strong color which enhances the original decoration and the character of this room.

Bruyn Est in Neder-Over-Heembeek, Belgium by B612ASSOCIATES

Thursday, April 21st, 2016

Article source: B612ASSOCIATES

The project is situated on the edge of the urban on a clear transition point between the urbanistic stretch, the fringes bordering the roads, and the areas opening into the landscape: the alignement of the buildings defines the roads and the public spaces, but at times it draws back, it opens, then it spreads out to make place for the structural, open and landscaped entities. The site and brief analysis has allowed us to define the guidelines and the project objectives in order to compose a friendly and durable environment that is beneficial for the commodations and the neighbourhood.

However, the outside of the building keeps very simple form. Only a position and the size of the window tell the neighborhood about an internal characteristic. Also approach, parking lot and the outside storeroom are at the position clearing the snow and a legal limit reasonably.
