Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source: PplusP Designers

The principle concept established for this project at the Mandarin Oriental in Macau, is to embody tranquility at its essence through capturing the elements of nature.

The Tree is symbolic of being protective, sheltering and being able to nurture life-giving energy. The idea is to allow its occupants to enter a nature-inspired living space, where they could feel relaxed and safe within the comfort of their own home.

Walking through the entrance door reveals a welcoming feeling of freshness with leaves are blowing and swaying towards the ceiling.

Quintana 4598 in Buenos Aires, Argentina by intile&rogers arquitectura

Saturday, November 29th, 2014

Article source: intile&rogers arquitectura

From the architect. Quintana 4598, at the corner of Calle Arias, is a building of 12 functional units. The structure is modular, easily implemented and flexible. There are three apartments per floor in which the bathroom, kitchen, storage, closet and bedroom space are organized in a “furniture” format, as a piece attached sideways to the larger space. The specific programs take advantage of the 3m height and are condensed by a superposition in this structure. This operation provides a large volume of air to the dynamic area of the house.

Apartment Renovation in Eixample, Barcelona by Adrian Elizalde architect

Tuesday, November 25th, 2014

Article source: Adrian Elizalde architect

The project presents the renovation of an apartment located in the ‘Eixample’, Barcelona. The building dating from 1930, has a surface of 70 sq2 with a main façade facing ‘Provença’ street and a service yard.

At first, the apartment had the typical distribution of the old dwellings in Barcelona, many subdivided rooms and different  layers of materials that had overlaid over the years. Regarding the limited budget available, we decided to maintain the location of the kitchen and bathroom, renewing them completely and therefore use more resources in the rest of the apartment.

Casa Hamar in Hedmark county, Norway by Gudmundur Jonsson Arkitektkontor

Friday, November 14th, 2014

Article source: Gudmundur Jonsson Arkitektkontor

The building is a 3-story house containing the basement as a two studio-apartments for hire. There is an excellent view towards south, a situation that has formed the two glazed volumes that are cantilevered and stretching towards the view. The top-floor is retracted a bit in order to give the overall impression of a lower building in the landscape and as well acting as an important creator of the composition. The longitudinal 2-storey-woid in the center of the house is emphasizing the connection between the two main spaces an simultaneously creating a spacious flow between stories.
