Sunday, August 6th, 2017

Article source: LLoyd Russell AIA

The Bold roof profile of Avocado Acres (Aa) House personifies the design collaboration with Architect, Lloyd Russell to inject a dose of creativity + Mod Green Architecture into a coastal infill project. Aesthetic cues originated from the historical LA’s Case Study Houses and Eichler’s MCM gems. However, this new residence is all about addressing the conditions we face now by incorporating sustainable materials, energy efficiencies and environmental sensibilities.

The Building’s full-fledged relationship with natural light is exquisitely balanced with privacy; The roadside windows let daylight illuminate the living room and the second floor bedrooms, but their positioning makes it impossible for an outsider to grasp interior activities.

The Cave in Jalisco, México by Abraham Cota Paredes Arquitectos

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017

Article source: Abraham Cota Paredes Arquitectos

The best way to get to know an architect is to know their projects, they speak for us, unmask us when the work is honest, they exist as a mirror of who we are. There is something behind the cave that speaks of who I am, that form of an enclosed cube that seeks to be hidden from the world, while showing openings that exhibit a contradiction, perhaps I do not want to remain apart from the world, as a proof these narrow cracks show a characteristic from mankind, The longing of being known and loved.

CRV House in Viagrande, Italy by ACA Amore Campione Architettura

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017

Article source: ACA Amore Campione Architettura

The project regards the expansion and the renovation of a farm in the Sicilian hillside, on the slopes of Volcano Etna. The design effort aimed to respect the existing architecture and at the same time to search for a global image. Several features of the local tradition come into play, creating many points of contact between old and new: simple forms and few materials interact with the historical context.

Outpost in Idaho by Olson Kundig

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017

Article source: Olson Kundig

Set in the remote, harsh high desert of Idaho, Outpost is an artist’s live/work studio and sculpture garden. The building’s compactness restricts site impact and reinforces the desire to be outside. This is a windy place, and the enclosed “paradise garden,” is separated from the wild landscape by thick masonry walls. The footprint of the house is the limit of intrusion into the land—a simple, clearly defined space. This structure exemplifies Kundig’s belief that the architect’s job is to create an experience of place.

Mrs. Fan is from a traditional Chinese family. Newlyweds like her are expected to purchase a car and move into a new house in the suburbs to start the next phase of their life. But for people in their early 30’s who wish to be financially independent, the astronomical price of real estate in Beijing makes buying a house on their own nearly impossible.
