Thursday, December 12th, 2019

Article source: Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes

It is more than a hundred years since King Leopold II had the current Ostend station built. A bourgeois building with a magnificent architecture, worthy of the “queen of seaside towns”. Just like the city, the station has also expanded. It has become a popular transport hub, where thousands of passengers find their way every day to take a train, tram or bus, or a ferry or cruise ship.

The Intermodal Transit Facility provides a vibrant regional node for this mixed-used district’s commuter transportation network. Located on a former brownfield site in Coralville, Iowa, the project contributes essential momentum for growth of the community’s hospitality, conference, healthcare, office, retail, and residential developments.

The facility comprises two components; a parking structure and a bus terminal. It anchors a university hospital bus network, serves as an interchange and transfer point for the city’s transit, and provides a stop for regional express bus service between Omaha and Chicago. Not only does the facility promote several modes of transportation, increase bus ridership, andw support convenient earth-friendly transportation, it also addresses physical connectivity of the “last mile” for those who use a combination of transportation methods. It provides comfortable, enclosed passenger waiting areas, restrooms, showers, free WiFi, electric car charging stations, LED lighting, storm water planters, and connectivity to the region’s extensive bike trail system.

Saturday, March 25th, 2017

Article source: Díaz y Díaz Arquitectos

The Parrote car park is already a reality eleven years after the works had been awarded and after four years stoped, between 2008 and 2012, during this time it was necessary to adapt the project to the archaeological remains that were found in the area.   The car park has two entrances. You can access both by Puerta Real and by the San Anton Castle. In the case of the first, this is a temporary entry while the tunnel in construction to connect the underground of the Marina is not ended, which will connect with the Parrote, the entrance will be located underground. The car park has 610 spaces.

Chesapeake Car Park One in Oklahoma City by Elliott + Associates Architects

Sunday, March 12th, 2017

Article source: Elliott + Associates Architects

Exterior Appearance

The exterior of the building features staggered metal panels which function to screen views of the vehicles and provide airflow to qualify the building as an open parking structure. Internal ramps and screening vehicles from view is visually harmonious with the adjacent structures. The metal panels match details on the adjoining office building.  Brise soleil on the west side of the garage visually connects the adjoining office building. Horizontal panels vary in size, with 6” slats at ground level for human scale, and change to 1’, 2’ and 4’ widths as they rotate around the façade and add texture. There is no exterior lighting on the building. Internal lighting glows between horizontal panels.
