Habitation Mabau 2015 in Florennes, Belgium by crahay & jamaigne

Thursday, September 13th, 2018

Article source: crahay & jamaigne

Single-family house, with low-energy consumption and wood-frame located in Thy Le Baudouin (Florennes).

Given the sun’s course at the back of the lot and the landscape forming a slope, the project proposes a different concept of traditional housing. The entrance to the house is made by a semi-buried level in contact with the road (entrance / cloak room / cellar / car-port for one car / bicycle storage and garden) and the living areas are located on the first floor (living room / back kitchen / dog area / games for children). Upstairs, (sleeping areas / dressing rooms / bathrooms) allows access to the back of the garden by a slightly sloping footbridge. It allows the children to access directly at the field level. The two lavatories are accessible from each landing of the staircase.

House S Hasselt in Belgium by UAU collectiv

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018

Article source: UAU collectiv

A contemporary city home that fits into the surrounding area was the aim of this project. A patio home with a nod to the typological characteristics of the surrounding area is the result. Entering happens through the street, passing an open patio connected to the Molenpoortplein. Because of this we breach the ‘traditional way of living’ in the city centre. The patio constitutes the anchor point of the house and ensures that the necessary natural light reaches the entire house. Surrounding the open character of the patio are on the ground floor the entrance, a guest room with accompanying bathroom unit, a storage area and the parking space.

School Hoek in Zaventem, Belgium by ebtca architecten

Monday, August 20th, 2018

Article source: ebtca architecten

A new school in the city park of Zaventem. The design idea is to plant the building as modest as possible on the site to preserve the existing trees and green space. The location of the building is determined by giving solution at the least pleasant edge zone of the park. The park gets a new ‘hoek’ [angle]. The building becomes an extension of the park by a dubious play of inside/outside bounderies.
