Autodesk’s first quarter results look strong
Friday, May 16th, 2014Autodesk reported financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2015 on Thursday, May 15.
From the press release, here are the following primary results:
First Quarter Fiscal 2015
• Total billings increased 10 percent, compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2014.
• Total subscriptions increased by over 89,000, compared to the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014.
• Revenue was $593 million, an increase of 4 percent, compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2014 as
reported, and increased 5 percent on a constant currency basis. Revenue contribution from the recent
acquisition of Delcam was immaterial to first quarter results.
• GAAP operating margin was 7 percent, compared to 14 percent in the first quarter of fiscal 2014.
• Non-GAAP operating margin was 17 percent, compared with 24 percent in the first quarter of fiscal
2014. A reconciliation of GAAP to non-GAAP results is provided in the accompanying tables.
• GAAP diluted earnings per share were $0.12, compared to $0.24 in the first quarter of fiscal 2014.
• Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share were $0.32, compared to $0.42 in the first quarter of fiscal 2014.
• Deferred revenue increased 13 percent to a record $964 million, compared to the first quarter of fiscal
2014.
• Cash flow from operating activities was $219 million, compared to $224 million in the first quarter of
fiscal 2014.

EdgeWise Structure makes short work out of point clouds for BIM
Tuesday, April 29th, 2014In a conversation with Chris Scotton of ClearEdge3D, he spoke of their latest release of EdgeWise Structure announced at SPAR International 2014 in Colorado Springs last week. EdgeWise Structure can quickly and accurately extract properly specified steel, concrete or wood structural members from laser scan point clouds. Two of the company’s early beta tester customers were on hand at the conference to give presentations as well. Customers had tried the software on live projects, according to Scotton.
Sefaira’s performance based design platform now includes daylighting analysis

Autodesk University 2013 Report
Thursday, December 5th, 2013Robots for the future jobsite, flying drones for delivering packages and reality capture were all part of the show at Tuesday morning’s Mainstage presentation at Autodesk University 2013. The event kicked off with a short little skit by Penn & Teller, who will apparently provide an entire show for AU attendees on Thursday.

IMAGINiT Technologies releases their IMAGINiT Clarity 2014 Product Line
Thursday, May 30th, 2013This month IMAGINiT Technologies released their IMAGINiT Clarity 2014 Product Line, announced by parent company Rand Worldwide of which IMAGINiT is a division. IMAGINiT Technologies has released the 2014 versions of IMAGINiT Clarity-or-Autodesk-Revit-Server, IMAGINiT Clarity LT for-Autodesk-Revit-Server and IMAGINiT Clarity Workshare. These are three web-based collaboration tools that include new and improved features and the Clarity and Clarity LT for Autodesk Revit Server are designed to extend the value of the Autodesk Revit Server platform. They also enhancd control of the Revit Server set up, and automate repetitive tasks and provide data to non-Revit users.
For those users who do not use Autodesk Revit Server, IMAGINiT Clarity Workshare improves the traditional file-based work sharing approach and automates numerous time consuming Revit software related tasks, whether their BIM team is using Revit or Revit Server.
Features of the Clarity 2014 product line include (from the press release):
Task Automation
All Clarity products allow tasks to be automated in three ways: every time a Revit file is updated; at a scheduled time; or on demand. Mundane tasks such as exporting data to Navisworks or DGN file formats or creating ModelReview reports can now be performed on demand, freeing up staff to undertake higher value tasks. To share model data with team members who don’t use Revit, Clarity products can automatically generate a variety of file export options including PDF, DWF, DWG, IFC, GBxml, FBX and more.
Datasheets
Due to popular demand, all Clarity products have now greatly extended the capabilities of datasheets to go beyond the popular room data sheets. BIM team members now have almost 20 different data sheet options to choose from including furniture and equipment.
New version of Autodesk BIM 360 Glue provides greater access to project information
Thursday, May 16th, 2013Sarah Hodges, senior industry marketing manager for Autodesk, spoke this week about the new version of Autodesk BIM 360 Glue that addresses the big data explosion in the AEC industry and the adoption of BIM. Autodesk BIM 360 Glue extends the BIM process from design to construction by providing all stakeholders access to project information for model coordination and clash detection via desktop, mobile and web.
