A succinct body, placed in farmland dominated by the abbey of St. Florian, forms an inconspicuous three-storey office-building and makes use of the overview and the motorway-junction.
The given space allocation plan of the three-storey building creates a huge depth of the building. The insertion of atria, placed at the building envelope, makes it possible to expose the central areas naturally. A subtle texture is build by room-high windows, arranged on the black facade. Vertical slats of flat steel enwrap the facade and the atria, which creates a spatial definition. The inside out view is filtered by the slats in a smooth way. Threehundred slats of flat steel in 10 millimeters dimension, lightly inclined and bent, create the face of building, similar to a structure of boles in wood. The rusty surface gives a whiff of naturalness. Contact Hertl Architects
