ArchShowcase Sumit Singhal
Sumit Singhal loves modern architecture. He comes from a family of builders who have built more than 20 projects in the last ten years near Delhi in India. He has recently started writing about the architectural projects that catch his imagination. Til Til D.F. by gt2p designed using Rhino and GrasshopperAugust 7th, 2011 by Sumit Singhal
Article source: gt2p The project TilTil D.F. is the result of a request to gt2P, having as aim the development of a diverse program in an open space that merge with the topography and the landscape of thelocation. The requirement was done to this studiobecause of its experience in the development of projects of architecture based on the use of methodologies of parametric design. This knowledge has given them the capability to determine the relevant variables in their projects and to establish relations among them, in order to streamline the formulation and implementation of projects.
The definition of the program was based on the requirement of the client, interested in developing a generous public space that consolidates as a meeting place for recreational and cultural activities and events that bring together a great number of people. The ground where the project is located has a surface of 100,573 m2. The first step was the parametric division of the land, allowing the flexibility to evaluate solutions in relation to the program. This was separated into stripes that define areas of frequent use, occasional use and those of services. In the center of the ground was arranged an ellipse, as attractor of these strips and the pointthat congregates the different programs. In the frontal strip are cables of high tension so it was intended to parking lots, in the central strip are located a service station, a church and a strip center, in the later strip are spaces for exhibitions and an events center. The location of the latterin front of the square reinforces the point of attraction of the project. Each strip defines its size in relation to its destined program, so the height increases for those programs that require more area to work. Thus, the volumetric definition of the project demonstrates the relations between the activities, dimensions and the surroundings. The activities that require more area to work have greater volume and leave the central area in the lowest point, clearing the view towards the backgrounds. So that, the programmatic and volumetric disposition allows that the project adapts to the landscape and frames the existing topography. The used methodology allows integrating in a single model the way to face the landscape and the geometry according to the requirements of the program, creating a new topography. This is the result of highlighting the high variability of each strip that creates meeting surfaces at the junction of the strips, which allows ascending from the central square to the elevated park through a circulation that crosses it. Each volume has a crystal and steel structure that maximizes the visibility and the connection among the interior, the topography and the natural landscape. This integration is complemented with vegetal covers that allow the camouflage with the surroundings. In this way, the field is used to promote the recreation and enjoyment in a space that emphasizes the natural features of the surroundings, through the selected elements of manufacturing for this project.
gt2P and its experience in parametric design, achieves the geometry definitions and the adaptation to the ground of the project, since the identification of parameters to define the program, the areaintended to it, the volumes for each use and its relation with the particularities of the land.
